Presenting the Service to Youth Award to Leigh Sempkowski is Executive Director John Seals and Board President Sam Neill

The Boys and Girls Club of Morristown’s Board of Directors recently honored fellow board members Leigh Sempkowski and Link Gibbons for their outstanding efforts, commitment, dedication and contributions in support of the club and its more than 1,200 members in 2020.

Leigh Sempkowski, owner of South Marketing Group, is the recipient of this years’ Service to Youth Award. This prestigious award is given annually for, “Long and devoted service to the Boys and Girls Club of Morristown.”

Sempkowski has been a very active board member for seven years now and even supported the club as a program volunteer while in college. Some of her more noteworthy efforts and contribution to the club include: she served on the board’s COVID-19 Emergency Committee which was formed in March 2020 due to the pandemic, she redesigned the club’s new website, helped lead the club’s marketing efforts for all fundraising events as well as social media efforts, helped secure additional funding/support for the club’s meals and snacks program, helped recruit and personally supported the club’s Christmas for kids effort and has connected scores of supporters to the club.

Link Gibbons, attorney at law, was honored with the Golden Youth Award which is the highest local award given annually for devoted service to youth for the past year.

Gibbons has also been a very active board member for three years. During his time serving on the board, Gibbons has made a tremendous impact including: serving on the board’s COVID-19 Emergency Committee, helped revamp the club’s employee handbook, currently serves on the club’s Constitution and Bylaws Committee and he has been very active with all fundraising events as well as special events.

“Leigh and Link are true servant leaders and have been outstanding board members who always go above and beyond the call to support not only our organization, but this community,” Executive Director John Seals said. ”They are so very deserving of these honors.”

The Boys and Girls Club of Morristown is a participating agency of the United Way of Hamblen County.
