A Morristown woman and her live-in boyfriend were jailed for nonviolent child abuse or neglect on Thursday after a Department of Children’s Services caseworker and a Morristown Police Department detective found the defendants’ North Liberty Hill Road residence in allegedly deplorable conditions.
The children, ages 9 and 6, were removed from the home, according to Detective Lt. Vicki Arnold, who did not identify in the arrests warrants where the children were taken.
Jessica C. Johnson, 29, and Brandon Alexander Parrott, 27, were at home when the DCS caseworker arrived to conduct a welfare check, according to Arnold, who reported home was in a “horrific state.” Arnold reported that animal feces were found on the floor of every room in the residence and there was “trash dumped throughout.”
There was very little food in the refrigerator and a good portion of what was there was covered in mold and inedible, according to the detective. Bonds for Johnson and Parrott, who is not the father of the children, were set at $2,000.
