With the Christmas season approaching fast, shoppers still have an opportunity to help support more than 1,700 deserving children of the Lakeway Area by spending a dollar.
Each year, the Boys & Girls Club of Morristown has a Christmas card design contest for its members. The winning design is produced and sold, with proceeds going to support the club’s operations.
This year’s competition was won by Lydia McBee, 17, a first-year club member.
“We are very excited about this year’s card and fundraiser,” John Seals, club director, said. “Lydia did an outstanding job - and she sure put her heart and soul into it.”
Boys & Girls Club board members Bob Surber and Noel Montepeque are once again heading this year’s sales efforts, with a goal of selling $8,000 cards for $1 each. Individuals, businesses or companies can buy the cards at the club facility located at 311 Sulphur Springs Road, or from any board member or staff members. Cards can be purchased with either of the following two pre-printed messages, “Wishing You a Very Merry Christmas and a Glorious New Year,” or “Wishing You the Hope, Peace and Love of this Holiday Season.”
With the purchase of 200 or more cards, a personal message or logo can be printed at no additional charge.
“I want to encourage everyone to consider purchasing Christmas Cards again this year,” Seals said. “It’s still a great way to send a personal message to friends and loved ones and at the same time support the club.”
