The Boys and Girls Club of Morristown is offering two-week class swim lessons to youth ages 7 to 18 this fall.
Beginner lessons will be held on Sept. 9-19, Sept. 30-Oct. 10, and Nov. 11-21. More classes will be scheduled later including advanced beginners in January.
Hours for the two-week classes will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
All boys and girls ages 7-18 are welcome to attend the classes. Each child must be a member of the Boys and Girls Club of Morristown to participate in the lessons. New members must sign up the week prior to the first day of lessons.
Membership fee is $10 for children ages 7-12 and $15 for ages 13 to 18.
The membership allows full use of the club and its facilities.
Along with the adult swim class there is a water aerobics class for senior men and women ages 50 and older. The classes are held on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. A second class will start from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. depending on interest.
Participants are not required to know how to swim. The less structured class will allow clients to work at their own pace.
The goal of the senior aerobics class is to help participants maintain or increase muscle strength and restore flexibility. The buoyancy of the water makes a safe, ideal environment for relieving arthritis pain and stiffness.
The water aerobics class is $2 per session and taught by Dee Hendershot. Participants will use the rear entrance off Rosedale Avenue for the aerobics class.
