Parrott-Wood Memorial Library, 3133 W. Old A.J. Hwy., Strawberry Plains, will host a meet and greet event debuting local author Linda McCall at 4 p.m., Monday, Jan. 27. She will be reading from her new book, “Cornfield Salvation.”

The Jefferson County native made her childhood home primarily in New Market on her grandfather's farm. She says that, though it was a small farm, there was endless things to do with ample time to use her imagination

The author has four children, Jessica, Meghan, Hannah and Ty, and her husband has three, Angie, Kim and Jessica. There are six grandchildren and 1.2 great grandchildren, as another one is to be born in August.

McCall has worked as an RN since 1980. She lives with her husband in Strawberry Plains and is considering writing another book.
