The hydrant flow tests that the Morristown Fire Department began on Monday will continue for approximately four weeks, according to Deputy Fire Chief Brian Shepard.
Shepard says the flow tests may result in water discoloration, but it will still be safe to drink. The flow tests are conducted two times a year and result in lower insurance rates for homeowners and businesses.
“We appreciate the beautiful flowers and shrubs that many of you plant, however we want to remind you not to place plants where they will obstruct our vision of hydrants from the roadway,” Shepard said. “Hydrants are in the right-of-way and state law and city ordinances require they remain plainly visible.”
