Encore to debut drive-through theater this weekend

Encore Theatrical Co. will be presenting an intimate and casual evening this Friday at the Country Club as performers sing songs to a socially distance crowd.

“We hope we can provide an experience of entertainment while being safe,” said Dr. Dennis Ellkins, interim director for Encore.

This is the third edition of Encore Evenings as the theatre group tries to find ways to still entertain during the time of the COVID-19 pandemic. Many theater groups across the nation and the world are finding it difficult to perform as the numbers of people in theater settings have been limited and people try to properly social distance.

This is one way that Encore can still continue to get its name out to the public to show that the company is still performing.

Two people will be performing Friday night on the new Bocce ball court at the Country Club.

Ryan Miller, a music student at Walters State Community College, will be performing, along with Kaitlyn Hopkins.

Miller also plays guitar.

They will be performing a host of original songs.

Elkins said the event will take place between the two courts and the fire pits.

“We’re setting up a small stage,” he said.

There will be a cash bar, Miller said.

Tickets are $20 per person and will be collected at the event as people arrive.

The event is being held at 7 p.m. Friday at the Country Club.
