Boomer Wednesday

Liberace's "Piano Roll Blues" rolled out the carpet at the premier of Las Vegas' new sky-scraper Hotel Riviera on April 21, 1955. His attire was designed by Dior and supporting him are the hotel chorines.

Each Wednesday the Citizen Tribune shares a photo from the formative years of the Boomer Generation. Born from 1946 to 1964, the Boomer Generation was created when the members of the G.I. Generation returned from World War II. There were 79,907,844 Boomer Generation children born. The formative years for Boomers range from the late 1940s through the late 1970s.

The Boomer Generation was influenced by the rapid economic growth of the 1950s and the social unrest of the 1960s. They tend to see America as the world’s North Star, are idyllic and patriotic. Boomers were at the forefront of the Civil Rights Movement, the Women’s Movement and the ecology movement. They see themselves as the forever young generation.
