A Claiborne County school announced on its school web site that students and employees had been exposed to the novel coronavirus and have been asked to quarantine for 14 days from last contact.

Midway Elementary School in New Tazewell posted on its site that teachers and students had been exposed to the virus on March 9, March 11, March 12 and March 13.

School officials said they were alerted about the exposure on Monday.

The site said the quarantine would end on Friday, exactly 14 days after March 13.

Claiborne County recorded its first novel coronavirus, of COVID-19, on Monday.

Schools in Claiborne County are currently closed due to the cornoavirus pandemic.
