Whether it’s streaming video, radio or news, the trend in today’s media market is toward premium, ad free content.

As such, the Citizen Tribune has launched a new version of its website, www.citizentribune.com that offers a premium, ad-free experience.

Subscribers who sign up will receive full, ad-free access to the website as well as full access to the Electronic Edition of the newspaper.

“We’re excited to offer this new option for Citizen Tribune readers,” Tribune Editor/Publisher R. Michael Fishman said. “In today’s market, readers want to be able to make a choice, to have input on their user experience. Now readers can access the information provided daily by the Citizen Tribune in another way.”

Fishman noted that for some, the ad-free experience will be a whole new way of consuming the daily news.

“This model is relatively new to the newspaper industry,” says Seth Horn, digital media director for Lakeway Publishers, Inc. “However, platforms like Spotify and Hulu have been successfully implementing Ad-Free subscription rates for years now. These subscription platforms compete with for the time and attention of consumers. This is why we have begun to look both inside and outside the newspaper industry as we evaluate ways to enhance our reader experience.”

Horn went on to say the Tribune is experiencing historic growth on its website and is delivering content to more readers than ever before.

“Taking print and web traffic into account,” Horn said, “the Tribune is reaching more readers than any time in the paper’s more than 50 year history.”

The online ad-free experience is available with a subscription to the print edition for $11.99 per month for the first 3 months and $13.99 per month after the promotional period. There is also a yearly subscription for $149.99 per year for the first year and $169.99 per year after the promotional period.

A web-only ad-free subscription, which includes the electronic edition, is available for $7.99 per month for the first three months and $9.99 a month after the introductory period. Yearly subscriptions are available for $99.99 for the first year and $119.99 after the promotional period.

The basic subscription, which includes delivery of the print product plus full access to the website and the Electronic Edition of the newspaper is available for $7.99 per month for the first 3 months and $11.99 per month after promotional period or got $99.99 for a full year and $149.99 per year after the promotional period.

“We are excited to give our users the option of a premium ad-free experience. Digital users have spoken and many companies have offered an ad-free experience for their customers,” said Phil Hensley, vice president of circulation for Lakeway Publishers. “The Citizen Tribune is proud to be one of the first newspapers across the nation to offer this experience for our customers.”
