Leaders of business and industry were honored at the annual Industrial Appreciation Breakfast on Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church in Morristown.

Nearly 100 Morristown and Hamblen County businesses were thanked for their contributions to the community at the event, with several recognized for job creation, expansion projects and capital investment, including Arconic, CJ Designs, Colortech, Fabritech Manufacturing, Kakou USA, ICONEX, Lions Volunteer Blind Industries, Iatric Manufacturing Solutions, Kawasaki Tennessee, Metpar Corporation, MAHLE Engine Components, Rich Products Corporation, Petoskey Plastics, OTICS USA and Tuff Torq Corporation.

Two industries who brought significant numbers of new jobs to the Lakeway Area over the past year are Iatric and Meritor, with 130 and 75 employment opportunities, respectively.

Several area companies were also recognized for a significant anniversary, including Double H Plastics (10 years), Petoskey Plastics (20 years), JTEKT Automotive, Inc. (30 years), Motion Industries, Inc. (30 years), Tuff Torq Corporation (30 years), Meritor, Inc. (40 years), Cherokee Metal Products (50 years), Vulcan Materials (50 years), Woodcraft, Inc. (50 years) and Flav-O-Rich Dairies (90 years).

According to R. Jack Fishman, longtime chair of the Morristown Industrial Development Board, more than $125 million has been invested in Hamblen County over the past year, creating 400 new jobs in the process.

“It takes a community, and it takes all of you to make a better quality of life for everyone here,” Fishman said.

“Part of what we do is grooming our leaders. Our workforce is made up of your future employees, your congressmen and your future bosses,” Morristown Area Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Marshall Ramsey said.

The breakfast was planned and implemented by the Industrial Appreciation Planning Committee.
