Chelsea Leonard, Pharm., joined the team at Crescent Center Drugs in Morristown in September.
Leonard will be filling prescriptions and performing Medication Therapy Management for patients at Crescent Center. Medication Therapy Management includes a yearly medication review and regular adherence check-ins. Leonard is also involved in innovations for streamlining patient care at Crescent Center. This includes operating their new medication packaging robot, and getting medication prescriptions synchronized, so they can be filled at the same time each month.
“This will make medication management much simpler for our patients,” Leonard said. “These duties are important to me because I want to help ensure that our patients continue to receive the best care possible and do whatever I can to make taking their medications properly and easier for them.”
After graduating from Morristown-Hamblen West High School in 2009, Leonard attended two years of undergraduate pre-pharmacy classes at East Tennessee State University before attending pharmacy school at ETSU’s Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy.
She graduated with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2015 before completing a one-year community pharmacy residency with Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama and with an independent pharmacy in Florence, Alabama. She then went on to work as the pharmacy’s clinical coordinator before relocating back to Morristown. Leonard also enjoys patient education, and hopes to teach classes for Crescent Center patients in the future.
“All of the pharmacists at Crescent Center Drugs are incredible, so I am truly honored to be part of this team,” Leonard said. “I have prior experience with adherence packaging and medication synchronization, and know that it will be beneficial for our patients.
“I am excited to get this program started, and get more patients enrolled.”
