A 2-year-old Morristown boy was flown to the University of Tennessee Medical Center Wednesday after being struck by a Ford F-150.
The boy was on a ridable toy in the middle of Clover Dale Lane when he was struck by a Ford F-150 at about 6:35 p.m. Wednesday. The driver of the truck, Juan Castellanos Gonzalez, was driving on a suspended license, according to Morristown Police. There was no evidence of drug or alcohol use. Per police protocols, tests were administered and results are pending.
The boy suffered a broken leg and multiple internal injuries but those injuries do not appear to be life threatening at this time.
The investigation is ongoing.
Man dies following crash last week
An 87-year-old Morristown man involved in a T-bone crash last week on state Route 160 has died.
Joe Helton, of Morristown, was a passenger in the 2003 Honda Accord that also took the life of his wife, 79-year-old Gladys Helton.
Gladys Helton was driving and while trying to cross state Route 160, they were struck by oncoming BMW.
Gladys Helton died at the scene of the crash and Joe Helton was transported to UT Medical Center where he later died.
No charges are being filed at this time, authorities said.
