The car was described as a late 1990s or early 2000s Honda Civic or Accord that’s equipped with a spoiler. The primer-gray or primer-black paint may be covering green paint, according to MPD Lt. Brian Sulfridge, who says police have no tag information or driver information.
The car-versus-pedestrian crash occurred around 2:50 a.m. in front of Hardwoods of Morristown on Cherokee Drive, near the intersection with North Cumberland Street. The vehicle was last seen traveling west on Cherokee Drive, according to Sulfridge.
The injured person, a man who has not yet been publicly identified, suffered tibia and fibula fractures on both lower legs, according to radio traffic broadcast on an emergency frequency. He was airlifted to the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville with what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
Those with information about the suspect vehicle are encouraged to call the non-emergency 911 Hamblen County dispatch number, 423-585-2701.
