Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System invites the community to an open house and Morristown Area Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting for its new Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine Center.

The event will be Monday, July 8, beginning with a ribbon cutting at 4 p.m.

An open house will continue through 6:30 p.m., with tours of the new center and light refreshments available.

The center is located on the fourth floor at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System. Access to this floor is provided at the “A” elevator or stairs just inside the front entrance of the hospital.

The Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine Center offers traditional and advanced wound care services. The center is also the area’s only wound care service to offer hyperbaric oxygen therapy, or HBOT, which increases the oxygen level in tissue and improves the healing efficiency of white blood cells. Oxygen is delivered in a private, comfortable hyperbaric chamber equipped with televisions and headphones. Most patients require five days of treatment, with one two-hour treatment session each day.

“Opening the new wound care and hyperbaric medicine center was a result of our community needs assessment. We are proud to bring this new service to our community and hope to see the community at our July 8 ribbon cutting and open house,” said Gordon Lintz, president and chief administrative officer of Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System.
