The Hamblen County Health Department is extending hours of operation in order to provide customers more opportunity to receive services.
Effective Monday, Sept. 9, health department hours are 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Exceptions are federal holiday weeks, during which hours return to 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The Hamblen County Health Department offers numerous services including: immunizations for children and adults; WIC: Women, Infants and Children Supplemental Nutrition Program; breastfeeding education and support and well child exams for children from birth to 21 years of age.
The department also offers family planning and women’s health, including physical exam and lab tests, birth control education and methods provided, pregnancy testing and assistance enrolling in TennCare for pregnant women.
Other services include vital records: certified Tennessee birth and death certificates at a cost of $15; Baby & Me Tobacco Free Program to help pregnant moms stop smoking; sexually transmitted disease testing, treatment and prevention education; tuberculosis and infectious disease control; breast and cervical cancer screening; a dental program for children and health promotion, providing education and classes related to a healthy lifestyle.
The CHANT progam, Community Health Access and Navigation in Tennessee, is a visiting program for at-risk families.
