Once a stranger to Dr. Siva Maran, Opal Caldwell met Dr. Maran while she was working as a nurse at Morristown Hamblen Hospital in 2007.
After five years went by, Caldwell found herself working as a nurse under Dr. Maran in the gastroenterology field here in the Lakeway Area. She began as his nurse and served that position for five years seeing consults in the hospital.
In 2017, Caldwell graduated from nurse practitioner school from Carson-Newman University and was hired as Dr. Maran’s nurse practitioner, where she still holds that position and has for four years now.
Caldwell is known to do many things to keep Dr. Maran’s gastrointestinal office, now located in Morristown and Newport. She specializes with hepatitis treatment of A, B and C. She also works with cirrhosis of the liver and fatty liver disease.
Since Dr. Maran’s team partnered with Tennova in July of 2020, her position has not changed.
She says that a lot has stayed consistent and it has allowed them to give the proper care and meet the patient’s needs just as much, if not more.
“Partnering with Tennova has been great,” Caldwell said. They share the values that we as providers want for our patients and we can continue to give them excellent quality family-oriented care that Dr. Maran has provided for his patients for 25 years.”
Caldwell is excited for what the future holds for Dr. Maran, the rest of the members and herself under Tennova.
“Hopefully I will continue to serve the community of Morristown and surrounding counties with GI services for years with Tennova,” Caldwell said. “There is a great need for our services and I hope to continue that for many more years. I love my patients and they are all family to our practice.
