Happy Easter, everyone. Trojans, we are 75% of the way through the school year. The light is shining at the end of the tunnel.
The last nine weeks will begin Monday April 5. Monday April 12 will be grade card day. Welcome back to the classroom, virtual students. Remember it is required that you have a doctor’s note or a B average to remain a virtual student.
Seniors, if you missed picking up your cap and gown when Jostens was here last week, you can now come to the main office to get your order.
Prom will be May 22 at West High. There are guidelines students must follow for attire. Ladies, adhere to the following guidelines: Neckline must not go below chest in front nor be too revealing on the front or sides. The back of the dress should not fall below the waistline. Dress fabric should not be see-through. Short dresses must fall pass the mid-thigh area. Slits in the skirt should not go above mid-thigh (front/back/side). The top band of a skirt or pants must fall above the belly button all the way around the waist. Dresses must not be too revealing for a school sponsored event. Gentlemen, adhere to the following guidelines: Wear a tuxedo, or suit with tie, or dress shirt, dress pants, jacket, with tie for appropriate choices. Proper dress shoes should be worn. No blue jeans will be allowed. Shirts may not be removed. T-shirts are not appropriate for the occasion. Students, remember you are responsible for the attire of your invited guests. This policy applies to West High students of all grade levels as well as the students from other schools. Inform them of the guidelines and ensure as a guest they are in compliance. Address any questions regarding appropriate attire with Mrs. Story or an administrator prior to the prom.
Students, remember there is support for technology issues. Simply call 423-581-4420 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Someone will gladly assist you.
Morristown-Hamblen Air Force JROTC will host its third annual Military Ball on April 10. Tickets are on sale through Major Thigpen or Senior King. All prior and current cadets are encouraged to attend. Faculty members are also invited if they are interested. See Major or Senior for additional details.
Got talent? This year's Trojan Nation Talent Show will be aired during TNN on Friday, April 9. We are looking for members of the Trojan Nation (student or faculty) who are ready to show off their special skills: singing, playing an instrument, stand-up comedy, poetry, magic, dancing - the sky's the limit. First, second, and third place student winners will receive $100, $50, and $25 respectively. One faculty winner will also receive $25. Plan your act and check the school announcements and grade-level Google Classrooms this week for the link to submit your video entry. Submissions are due by Tuesday, April 6.
Seniors, remember to upload your work ethic diploma documents to workethicdiploma.com. Ask your TNN teacher if you need assistance. You need at least 20 points to receive this special diploma for a red-carpet interview with more than 30 industries in the Lakeway Area.
Here are the upcoming sports dates. Support your teams. All schedules are posted on the school website mhhsw.hcboe.net. Varsity baseball will face Jefferson County at home April 5 and away April 6. On April 8 they will play Catholic at home while their opponent at their away match will be Dobyns-Bennet April 9. JV baseball will play Jefferson County at home April 5 and Jefferson away April 6. The softball team will in action at South Doyle April 6 and play Cocke County at home April 8.
