Congratulations to C.J. Livesay for being selected to the TSSAA class 5A All-State football team.

If you had library books out over the break, they are due. Renew or return before Friday Jan. 10 to avoid a fine. If you already have a fine or have lost a book, please talk to a librarian as soon as possible to take care of that.

Need help filling out the FAFSA? Please join us for FAFSA day on Jan. 14. Remember the FAFSA deadline is Feb. 1. We’d love to help students remain eligible for TN Promise or federal or state aid. Students, we are looking to see if there is interest in an additional course/class this semester. The new course would be small animal science. The prerequisite for taking this class is ag science. Please take the survey on the East homepage if you are interested.

Volunteers needed! MHHSE is in search of 10-15 college students or older to volunteer at the Future Ready Expo on Jan. 14 and 15 at the WSCC Expo Center. College students will receive community service hours for their participation. On Jan. 14, two time slots are available: 10A a.m. – 2 p.m. or 2 p.m. – 6 p.m. Job duties include pack student and vendor cinch bags, assist with vendor set-up, assist the FRE committee, and various other duties. On Jan. 15, two time slots are available: 7:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. or noon – 5 p.m. Anyone is welcome to stay 7:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. Job duties include help in hospitality room, deliver lunch, drinks, and snacks through the day, assist in vendor set-up/take-down, and various other activities. Middle schoolers from all Hamblen and Jefferson counties will be in attendance on Jan 15, along with approximately 100 business vendors. Tennessee Concrete Association High School Essay Contest

Award: 1st place-$250, 2nd place-$100, 3rd place-$50

Eligibility: High school students ages 16 to 18. Visit www.tnconcrete.org to complete online form and to submit essay. Essay must be typed, double spaced, and not exceed 600 words. Essay should demonstrate student’s awareness of concrete’s role as a building material.

Deadline: Jan. 24

TNConnect Credit Union

Award: $1,000

Eligibility: Must have a savings, checking, and debit card with name as primary member at TN Connect. Criteria may include GPA, community service, career goals, and written skills. Pick up an application in the counseling office.

Deadline: All forms to TNConnect Credit Union by Feb. 1.

Jackie Robinson Scholarship

Award: Up to $30,000 over 4 years

Eligibility: Graduating senior who shows leadership potential, demonstrates a dedication to community service, present a financial need, and have a composite ACT score of 21 or higher. Apply at http://www.jackierobinson.org/apply
