Congratulations to Aidan Siddiqi and Timothy Rice for placing 4th overall in public forum debate at the Chestnut Tree Invitational.

Congratulations to the all East students for their perfect All-East Tennessee Choir Screenings at ETSU. Next stop: Maryville College for All-East Tennessee Choir. Hard work does pay off.

Big congratulations to junior quarterback Cole Henson, who now holds the record for most career touchdown passes with 34. The previous record of 32 was held by Randy Sanders.

We are excited to invite families to a college tailgate night at St. Patrick Catholic Church Wednesday, Nov 13 starting at 6:30 p.m. This will feature information about dual enrollment, financial aid, college reps, military recruiters, scholarships, and raffle prizes, with a Q&A at the very end.

Students planning on taking a Walters State class in the spring, if you do not have a completed packet, students will need to make an appointment at Walters State. Students will be dismissed in alphabetic order to the counseling office.

November is picture book month. Bring in old or new picture books to your STORM class. The class who collects the most picture books will win a pizza party with Mrs. Cooper. All books collected will be either added to the library collection or donated to local preschool programs.

Join us for AP night Thursday, Nov 14 at 6 p.m. in the East High library. RSVP forms can be found on the East website,, and are due back to Mrs. Cooper in the main office by Nov 12.

Seniors, keep in mind if you do not order your cap and gown prior to Christmas break, the cost of cap and gown will increase by $30. Lock in the $44 cost now.

Rock of Refuge Church is conducting a Coats for the Cold campaign. Donate coats and jackets if you can. Give away date is 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., Saturday Nov. 30

Come join us for the Motown Musical Revue. Students from East and West will perform favorite Motown hits from the 1960s and 70s in a two-hour, high energy songfest. All shows will be held in the Morristown West auditorium. Cost for all patrons (kindergarten and up) will be $12. Showtimes are 7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 15 and Saturday, Nov. 16, and 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 17.

Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship Program

Award: $2,500 Scholarship

Eligibility: Students must have a demonstrated commitment to community service, outstanding qualities in character, integrity and leadership. One must reside in one of the communities listed on the program website. Students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and demonstrate financial need.

Deadline: December 2019

Burger King McLamore Foundation Scholarship

Award: Up to $50,000 nationally, $1,000 - $5,000 regional scholarships available

Eligibility: Must have 2.5 GPA be active in community service, demonstrate financial need, and plan to enroll in a 2-year or 4-year college.

Imagine America Foundation
