Colortech, a leading manufacturer of color and additives concentrates for the plastics industry, invited students from Meadowview Middle School’s Art Program to its Morristown facility Tuesday.
Colortech partnered with Kerry Stacy’s art class at Meadowview by providing recyclable plastic items produced from the company’s color matching process.
The materials were used to create colorful and innovative artwork that will be displayed throughout Colortech’s offices at their Morristown headquarters.
The project provided an opportunity for students to explore their creativity while learning about the plastics industry and its contribution to modern life.
Colortech welcomed the students to its facility for a unique opportunity to showcase their artwork and thank students for their hard work on the recent school project.
Jim Wright, Colortech Color Technology Manager, gave students a welcome to the facility and explained briefly what the company does and how it affects their favorite products
“What we do is create color pellets that our customers mix with resen. We don’t make the bottles we make the concentrate that many of you see in stores,” Wright said.
Each student then presented their art piece to Wright and other staff members.
Following the art presentation, Colortech’s staff gave students a guided tour of the facility.
Students had the chance to learn how the facility develops formulations in the color laboratory and learned how production operations create the color concentrate that will go into some of their favorite products.
As students left the facility, they went home with the knowledge of how the facility operates, a goodie bag filled with products that Colortech had a hand in creating and a $50 gift card for their artwork.
Wright was thrilled to work with the students from the school once again.
“We are thrilled to partner with this local middle school and provide these students with a unique opportunity to explore their creativity while learning about the importance of the plastics industry,” said Wright. “We are excited to showcase their artwork in our offices and to provide them with an inside look at our manufacturing processes and the career opportunities available in this industry.”
Colortech previously worked with Meadowview’s art classes in 2018 to create artwork for its office space.
“From the stained-glass effect pieces created with the film and the mosaic creations made with our pellets, our customers always enjoy seeing the artwork during plant visits. We are proud to continue working with Meadowview to add more pieces to our office space,” Wright said.
Colortech, which was founded in 1981, is proud to be a leading manufacturer in Morristown and looks forward to continuing to positively impact the community through its support of education and the arts.
