Carson-Newman University’s nursing and education online programs both rank No. 2 in Tennessee in their respective categories, according to U.S. News & World Report rankings released today.
For its 2023 Best Online Programs, U.S. News assessed schools based on a variety of objective factors such as student engagement, faculty credentials and services and technologies.
Carson-Newman’s online nursing program ranked No. 98 nationally, while its online education program ranked No. 157 in the country. Both C-N programs rank No. 2 in the state, only behind University of Memphis. The recognition also makes Carson-Newman a top private university in Tennessee in the two categories.
“It is rewarding to have Carson-Newman recognized once again for its commitment to providing an education that is Christ-centered and academically excellent,” Carson-Newman President Charles A. Fowler said. “I am proud of our faculty and their devotion to ensuring our students are prepared as educated citizens and worldwide servant-leaders. It is a blessing to serve alongside of them.”
The media organization says the rankings are designed for individuals looking to complete or further their education, this year’s edition evaluates more than 1,800 online bachelor’s and master’s degree programs. The rankings only include degree-granting programs that are offered primarily online by regionally accredited institutions.
News of the rankings adds additional excitement for C-N’s Nursing Program as it prepares to move into a new state-of-the-art health sciences building later this year. The 48,000 square foot Drama and Ted Russell Center will welcome nursing students this fall. The facility is set to feature additional classroom space, simulation labs, health assessment labs and general skills labs. To enhance the student experience, the building will feature a food service area, multiple student lounges, collaboration areas, as well as a covered outdoor terrace.
