Auction for Action replaces of Taste of Morristown

Special to the Citizen Tribune

Girls Inc. will host the Auction for Action, a fundraiser to replace the annual Taste of Morristown. The online only auction begins July 28. Here a Girls Inc. student shows off bracelets she made.

With COVID-19 case counts rising in the Lakeway Area, the Girls Inc. 1,000-person Taste of Morristown event has been postponed until early next year.

However, the Taste’s big silent auction can now be shopped online as the new 2020 Virtual Auction for Action.

“We have some great items this year,” said Community Development Manager Lauren Stipes. “From wild water rafting to boat tours, to a Hot Springs getaway and an autographed James “Little Man” Stewart painting, there is something for everyone. And the best part? When you buy, girls win. All proceeds go directly towards delivering fun, hands-on educational and recreational programs to girls in the Lakeway Area.”

The online auction will be open July 28 to Aug. 1.

Readers may start browsing the auction items now at https://girlsinchc2020.ggo.bid.

Once readers decide to start bidding, they should fill in their name, phone number and credit card through a secure software system. Credit cards will not be charged unless the account holder wins something.

Readers can even set the system to automatically bid to a maximum amount that can be set. Those bidding will receive texts when someone outbids. This is also good for bidding wars with friends.

“We also want to thank our wonderful community of Taste sponsors,” said Stipes. “Businesses like Rogers Petroleum, Southeast Industrial Construction, JTEKT, Lear, and so many more, who have stuck with us throughout this very hard year. Their continuing support has allowed us to give our hardest hit families a break from paying summer fees. Thank you.”
