The Word Players will present “The Ends We Seek” by Ethan Norman at every Walters State Campus in February. The presentation is part of the college’s celebration of Black History Month.
Shows are scheduled for Feb. 24 and 25:
Feb. 24: 9:40 a.m., Niswonger Campus Lyceum in Greeneville
Feb. 24: 4 p.m., Sevier County Campus CAPE 105
Feb. 25: 9:40 a.m., Morristown Campus Lyceum
Feb. 25: 2 p.m., Claiborne County Campus Auditorium
The play follows a mother and a son as they live through historical events of each generation – Abraham Lincoln’s election and emancipation proclamation through the civil rights protests led by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The average person’s struggle with a dysfunctional society rife with racism are shown against the historic backdrop.
“The Ends We Seek” was inspired by true stories. Sharp dialogue with captivating musical interludes personalizes and humanizes the lives of ordinary people swept up in the events of history.
Admission is free and the performances are open to the public. Seating is limited to allow for social distancing. Masks will be required. Seats for all shows may be reserved online.
