Encore Theatrical Company will offer a variety of programs this year, along with a major stage production.
Encore Education is presenting three youth summer camps in June and July: Page to Stage – June 10, 12 and 14, for ages rising kindergarten through fifth grade; Broadway Bootcamp – June 10-14, for rising sixth graders through 12th grade; and Drama Days of Summer – July 9, 16 and 23, for ages rising Kindergarten through 5th grade.
In addition to the youth summer programs, Encore is again offering its Acting Techniques class for 18 years and up. The adult acting class is suitable for beginner and intermediate actors and fills up very quickly. Information and registration can be found online at www.etcplays.org.
The company announced the cast of its 2020 Junior Theatre Festival show, “Beauty and the Beast, Jr.” The JTF Company will rehearse through the fall and winter and then present the show for adjudication at the 2020 Junior Theatre Festival in Atlanta in January. The show will tour locally at the beginning of February.
Encore is preparing to hold auditions for its 2019 Young Stars production, “Madagascar: A Musical Adventure, Jr.” on July 8 and 9 in the Inman Theatre at Walters State Community College, Morristown campus. Interested performers from ages 8 to 18 are encouraged to audition. The show will be presented at Walters State, Morristown, September 6-15. More information is available on the website.
“Mamma Mia!” will be presented June 28 through July 7 at the James D. Swann Performing Arts Center at Jefferson County High School in Dandridge.
ABBA’s hits tell the story which unfolds on a Greek island paradise. On the eve of her wedding, a daughter’s quest to discover the identity of her father brings three men from her mother’s past back to the island they last visited 20 years ago.
Directed by Donna Belisle, “Mamma Mia!” is presented by Morristown Hamblen Healthcare System/Covenant Health, First Tennessee Foundation/FTB Advisors, Subway and Pete & Sami Barile along with Encore’s 2019 Main Stage Sponsors: Sykes, Lakeway Dermatology Associates, Tarr Chevrolet, Aarons, Hampton Inn & Suites, Ashley Lodge Photography, Freddy Cat Productions, WJDT & WBGQ, Walters State Community College and the Citizen Tribune. “Mamma Mia!” is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International.
