The Ball Sisters Band and the Rogersville Heritage Association will host the Tenth Annual East Tennessee Young Bluegrass Musician’s Contest. The contest will be held Feb. 23 beginning at 4:30 p.m. at Hawkins Elementary School in Rogersville.
Contestants 18 and younger will compete in fiddle, guitar, mandolin, banjo and vocal categories. Cash prizes and trophies will be awarded. The best overall performer will receive additional cash and prizes.
The competition will be held for three age groups:
Fiddle: 6-years-old and under, 7 through 12-yearsold and 13 through 18-years-old.
Guitar, banjo, mandolin and vocal: age 12 and under.
Each participant must pay a $1 entry fee per category. Each contestant may perform one or two songs in the competition. Instructors are encouraged to accompany their students.
General admission for the event is $5 for adults and $3 for students. Children under 6 years of age are free. Refreshments will be available.
The event is a fundraiser for the Rogersville Heritage Association’s Heritage Lites Leadership Program Scholarship Fund, a partnership of the Heritage Association of Rogersville and The Chamber of Commerce.
