Is riding in a hot air balloon on your bucket list? This is a great opportunity to get up close and personal with one.
Regency Retirement Village is located on nine beautiful acres a few blocks east of downtown Morristown. Three hot air balloons will be tethered on the grounds, and for a nominal cost you can take a tethered ride, going up approximately 80 feet in the air. Rides will be offered from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. June 4. In case of rain the rides will be held June 11.
There will be various arts, crafts and health care vendors for you to shop or simply learn more about their services. For young families, it is a great time to see firsthand fire trucks, ambulances and police cars and to hear about how they protect the safety of our communities. There will also be some antique cars for viewing.
Lowes will be providing free crafts for the kids. Clowns will be mingling with the crowd and face painting will be available.
Music will permeate the grounds with both gospel and more contemporary sounds streaming from two different venues. There will be three gospel groups plus karaoke and other more contemporary performers, so bring your voice, your lawn chair or a blanket to enjoy the music as you watch the martial arts demonstrations and all the activities in progress.
Free hot dogs, hamburgers and BBQ are being supplied by U.S. Foods, a major sponsor of the event. There will be other snacks available for purchase. The evening promises to be memorable and lots of fun for both the young and the not so young.
Typically a hot air balloon ride costs in the $200-$250 range. The tethered rides will be $15. The number of participants is limited so arrange to pre-purchase your ticket (cash only) at Regency Retirement Village, 739 E. 2nd North Street, Morristown, (423) 581-7075.
