In an effort to streamline its business training and workshop and seminar programs in 2013, the Morristown Area Chamber of Commerce is discontinuing its Women in Business series and implementing changes in the Lunch & Learn program.

“With the success of the Lunch & Learn program which began in 2011, we noticed a drop in attendance at our Women In Business meetings,” said Debra Williams, Chamber general manager.

“The program topics were often similar so we decided in mid-2012 that we would focus our efforts on Lunch & Learn in 2013 and discontinue Women in Business. However, one of the elements of Women in Business that was not included in Lunch & Learn was the opportunity to do some networking and make announcements.

“This was very important to those who attended Women in Business, so we have decided to extend the Lunch & Learn program from one hour to 90 minutes with the last 30 minutes serving as a time to share information and network.

“For those members who are on a tight lunch schedule, they will still be able to have lunch and hear the program and get back to work within an hour, but those who wish to stay longer to net-work and meet informally with other members, will be welcomed to stay,” Williams said.

The Chamber has Lunch & Learn topics confirmed for March, April, August and October, with topics pending for the remaining months.

The Lunch & Learn Series runs on the 3rd Monday of each month through October (except February when the 3rd Monday is a holiday). Cost to attend is $15 per person, which includes lunch and the presentation. Reservations are required.

E-mail invitations are sent to all Chamber members for each Lunch & Learn and an invitation is also included in the E-newsletter each month. For more information, call the Chamber office at 423-586-6382 or visit www.
