Girls Inc. Girls of the Month chosen for February

MaKenna MacMahan and Rameria Winton were selected Girls of the Month for February at Girls Incorporated of Hamblen County.

They were selected based on their participation in activities, their character and attitude and because they would make good role models for other girls.

MaKenna, who is 12 years old, is the daughter of Sumer and Will Brown. She has a 10-year-old sister, Maylea Brown, and a 17-year-old brother, Mychal McMahan.

MaKenna attends Webb’s Baptist Church in Newport.

She attends West View Middle school and is in the sixth-grade. Her  favorite subject is math and what she likes most about school is seeing her friends.

She has been a member of Girls Inc. since January and her favorite activity is four square.

MaKenna’s hobbies and extracurricular activities are soccer and track manger, and she wants to be a crime scene investigator when she grows up. MaKenna is outgoing, friendly and helpful to others.

Rameria is the 8-year-old daughter of Rev. James C. and Yolanda Billings.

She has four sisters — 31-year-old Christina, 25-year-old Charish, 20-year-old Chelsea, 11-year old Jamya — and a 27-year-old brother named Jamarcus.

She belongs to Mt. Olive Missionary Church.

Rameria attends Union Heights Elementary School and is in the second-grade.

Her favorite subject is math and her school award is perfect attendance.

What she likes most about school are special classes and gym.

Rameria has been a Girls Inc. member for two years, where her favorite activities are four square and pool.

Her hobbies and extracurricular activities are bike riding and jumping on a trampoline, and she says she loves the group One Direction and Girls Inc.

She wants to  be an veterinarian when she grows up.
