      The Boys and Girls Club of Morristown will hold its 34th annual Super Auction on Saturday, Aug. 8 beginning at 10 a.m. at the club facility, 311 Sulphur Springs Road. The Super Auction is the club’s major annual fundraiser that allows the club to continue to serve almost two thousand youth members annually.
      All the club’s programs including computer technology, sports, music, art, homework assistance and tutoring, the Teen Center, swim team, swim classes, games room tournaments, merit system, Young Men of Distinction, Young Women of Distinction, mentoring, tutoring, Job Search, Career Launch, Project Learn, Crafts, food service and after-school snacks, Women of Wellness, Leadership Group Clubs and many more programs and services are all impacted by the success of the Super Auction.     1. East High Football Boosters Kickoff Dinner @ Morristown-Hamblen High School East

      Morristown East will kick off their football season the night before the annual jamboree at Burke-Toney Stadium with the East High Football Boosters Kickoff Dinner. This year’s event will take place on Thursday, Aug. 13, inside the new cafeteria at East beginning at 6 p.m. The featured speaker will be former Tennessee and NFL offensive lineman and current Vol For Life Coordinator Antone Davis. Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for children ages 2-12. The East High Football Boosters are also taking donations for the upcoming season.       Jeremy Camp will headline a benefit concert for the Ministerial Association Temporary Shelter on August 15 at Manley Baptist  Church on West Andrew Johnson Highway. Camp has released 12 albums since his start in 2002 with Stay, an album featuring songs such as “Walk by Faith” and “Take My Life.” His latest album, “I Will Follow,” features what his website biography said is his recent “season of artistic growth and musical creativity.”  Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the concert will begin at 6:45.       Officials with the Cocke County A&I Fair say they have a full lineup of events planned for August. Ruth Murchison, Fair Board president says the annual Pleasure Horse Show will begin at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 8. Fairground gates will open at 3 p.m. An antique tractor pull is planned for 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 15. More information is available at www.easttntractor.com. This year’s fair officially begins on Tuesday, Aug. 18 with the opening of the midway and several beauty contests, including the Fairest of the Fair. All area professional and volunteer fire departments have been invited to participate in the Battle for the Bucket Memorial Firefighters Challenge at 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 21. It will memorialize volunteer firefighters Clayton Ball and Jason Smith. Admission to the fair is $5. Children 2 years old and under will be admitted free. The fee for the midway wristband for Tuesday through Thursday is $15. The price goes up at $20 for Friday and Saturday.
