 /strong> — Barbara A. MacAdam is deputy editor of <em>ARTnews</em>\, where
  she has worked since 1987. She has also served as executive editor of Art
  + Auction\, and was an editor at <em>Review: Latin American Literature an
 d Arts</em> and <em>New York</em> magazine. She has written on design for 
 <em>ID magazine</em>\, reviewed books on art and literature for the <em>LA
  Times Book Review</em>\, <em>Newsday</em>\, and <em>The New York Times Bo
 ok Review</em>\, and has written for numerous other magazines and newspape
 rs on art\, design\, and literature. She is a board member of the Internat
 ional Art Critics Association and of the Arts Arena of the University of P
 aris\, and has curated numerous national exhibitions. Her current project\
 , “Pencil Pushed\,” focuses on the fundamental role of drawing in thinking
  about art and perception.</p>\n<p align='left'>Ms. MacAdam will be lectur
 ing at 7:30 in the McCarty Auditorium\, room 109 of the Art and Architectu
 re building. The opening reception for Pencil Pushed will immediately foll
 ow the lecture in the Ewing Gallery.</p>\n<p align='left'>On Friday\, Sept
