 rldwide premiere this coming summer\, “Summer Magic” is a brand new stage 
 adaptation by Jerry Maloy and Jimmie Hollifield of Walt Disney’s 1963 clas
 sic movie musical starring Oscar winners Hayley Mills and Burl Ives. The s
 how is hosted by the Morristown Theatre Guild.</p>\n<p>The songs were writ
 ten by the Oscar-winning team of Richard M. and Robert B. Sherman. Richard
  Sherman said that Walt Disney used the musical as an “audition” for ‘Mary
  Poppins’ -  ‘to see if we could handle a big-budget musical like ‘Mary Po
 ppins.’”</p>\n<p>The script was originally adapted by Sally Benson (who al
 so wrote “Meet Me in St. Louis” and “Viva Las Vegas”) from Kate Douglas Wi
 ggin’s novel “Mother Carey’s Chickens.”</p>\n<p>Maloy received special per
 mission from Disney Theatrical to perform his adaptation\, meeting with Ri
 chard Sherman in California in consultation about the production.</p>\n<p>
 Set in 1912 Maine\, the musical features ragtime\, barbershop\, player pia
 nos\, waltzes\, and the Disney favorite “The Ugly Bug Ball.” The cast enco
 mpasses all ages of dancers\, singers\, and actors. The production promise
 s to be a delight from start to finish.</p>\n<p>Venue: Walters State Commu
