  Mabry-Hazen House invites you to Miss Evelyn Hazen’s Birthday Celebration
  on Sunday\, October 14 from 2 to 5 p.m. Each year we explore another part
  of Miss Hazen’s family history. This year author Jack Neely will give a t
 alk on Joseph Mabry\, Miss Hazen’s grandfather and builder of the historic
  home.</p>\n<p>Afterwards\, visitors will enjoy a selection of birthday ca
 kes\, as well as a guided tour of the museum. Tickets costs are $10 per pe
 rson with no cost to members. The purchase of a Membership is encouraged.<

 s the Associate Editor for the Metro Pulse and a monthly humor columnist f
 or Knoxville Magazine. His Metro Pulse column\, Secret History\, has enter
 tained readers since 1992. He has lectured on journalism\, history\, archi
 tecture\, music\, and literature at UT\, Maryville College\, and other ins
 titutions. His book “Market Square: A History of the Most Democratic Place
  on Earth” explores Knoxville’s well-known marketplace\, which was co-dona
 ted by Joseph Mabry in 1853.</p>\n<p><strong>ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: </str
 ong>Built in 1858\, The Mabry-Hazen House is strategically located on the 
 highest hill east of downtown Knoxville with spacious views in all directi
 ons. The home was occupied and defended by both armies during the Civil Wa
 r.  It housed three generations of the same family for 130 years\; the mus
 eum showcases one of the largest original family collections in America. Y
