Young singers from across the region are invited to audition for the East Tennessee Children’s Choir and other choirs of the Mountain Empire Children’s Choral Academy as they celebrate their 25th A nniversary season!
\nAuditions for membership in the East Te nnessee Children’s Choir will be held Monday\, January 7\, betwee n 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. at Central Baptist Church\, 300 North Roan Street\, J ohnson City\, TN. Children who are in fourth through eighth grades can au dition for the East Tennessee Children’s Choir. Children are auditioned in small groups and no preparation is necessary. Auditions take about 25 min utes and are conducted on a first come\, first served basis on the half ho ur.
\nSingers in ninth through twelfth grades\, and male singers wit h changed voices in eighth grade may audition for the Highlands Yo uth Ensemble. Auditions for this group are by appointment only\, and a recommendation from a music teacher or church choir director is rec ommended. \nChildren in first\, second\, and third grades may reg ister for the MECCA Choristers. No vocal audition is req uired. The Choristers of the Mountain Empire Children’s Choral Academy ha ve sung in several major concerts\, including performing the National Anth em at the Bristol Motor Speedway and joining the East Tennessee Children’s Choir at Rhythm & Roots Reunion. \nSingers come from 30 + different schools (p ublic and private) and home schools. The following communities in Tenness ee and Virginia are currently represented in our choirs: Abingdon\, Big S tone Gap\, Blountville\, Bluff City\, Bristol\, Elizabethton\, Erwin\, Gre eneville\, Johnson City\, Jonesborough\, Kingsport\, Limestone\, Mosheim\, Mountain City\, and Piney Flats.
