 settlement is well documented and familiar to most.  Learn more about the 
 second large wave of immigrants that took place between 1845-1925.  They w
 ere composed largely of people from Eastern and Southern Europe\, includin
 g French and German Swiss\, Italians\, Czechs\, Hungarians\, Polish\, Russ
 ians\, Jewish\, and other populations\, who\, like the first immigrants\, 
 came here in search of opportunities for a better life.</p>\n<p>As part of
  her work to develop a new student education program for use at East Tenne
 ssee Historical Society\, Natalie Hansen has researched immigrant trends a
 nd populations in East Tennessee for the period\, uncovering some fascinat
 ing individual stories along the way.  Ms. Hansen is a graduate student in
  information science at the University of Tennessee and worked as a practi
 cum student with the East Tennessee Historical Society in 2012.</p>\n<p>Fo
