NORMAN, Okla. — The 2013-14 season was a huge success for the Walters State Senators golf team, both on and off the golf course.

The latest honor for the WSCC team came this week when they were named as the NJCAA Division II Academic National Champion by the Golf Coaches Association of America. This was the first Team Academic title for Walters State.

WSCC was one of six schools in the state of Tennessee recognized by the GCAA. Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Middle Tennessee, East Tennessee State and Maryville College were all named All-Academic Teams for a 3.0 or better GPA.

On the course, the Senators claimed their first-ever NJCAA Division II national championship this past May, giving the school its second team national championship (2006, baseball).

Brad Hawkins, Andrew Hall and Cody Johnson all received at least one NJCAA All-American honor as well.
