THADDEUS ALLEN DYER

Thaddeus Allen Dyer, 58, formerly of Russellville, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Becky’s Place in Morristown. Thad’s body was very tired, and he had stated he was ready to go.

Thad graduated from Morristown East High School in 1974. He was a charter member of the East Hamblen County Volunteer Fire Dept.; he was of the Baptist faith, and attended Friendly View Baptist Church when his health permitted. Thad was a person that never met a stranger.

He was preceded in death by his father Thomas “Henry” Dyer.

Survivors include his mother, Trophine Long Dyer; brothers and sisters, Tim (Joanna) Dyer of Bean Station, Teresa Foster of Russellville, Traci Vaughn of Morristown, Todd (Jimmy) Dyer of Russellville, and Tammy Dyer of Jefferson City; nieces and nephews, Regina Dyer, Wiley, Andy, and Jessica Williams, Scotty, and April Vaughn, and Charlene Dyer; aunts Myrtle Evans, Aileen Owens, and Nancy Hopson; several cousins and many friends.

Special thanks to Becky Rogers, Sara and Christopher; the Fresenius Dialysis nurses, Dr.’s Mohammed Ahmed and Michael Tan, UT Home Health and Amedysis Hospice, Heritage Center and many friends he met along his journey.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 22, in the east chapel of Allen Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Donny Sizemore officiating. Interment will be 11 am Monday in Wright Cemetery in Greene County.

RAYMOND H. EWING

Raymond H. Ewing, age 87, of Morristown, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 20, 2014. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II, retired from Bell South in Morristown, and was a faithful member of the Morristown Church of Christ.

Raymond, a devoted family man, was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Eppie Ewing; and his daughter, Rebecca Christine Simonton.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mary Elizabeth Ewing; two children, Bobby R. (Vicki) Ewing of Knoxville and George Stephen (Brenda) Ewing of Morristown; Raymond is also survived by nine grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and sister, Mildred Hickson of Akron, Ohio.

Raymond’s going home celebration will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 24 at Westside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Blaine Kelly officiating. Interment will follow at Hamblen Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service at the funeral home.

WILLIAM C. ‘PEEPS’ HELTON

William C. Helton, “Peeps,” 88, of Morristown, passed away Thursday, June 19, 2014 at his home.

William (Bill) was born August 19, 1925. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He worked for Hamblen County Motor Company/Bob Bales Ford for 39 years and was a faithful member of Economy United Methodist Church for 60 years.

William, a devoted family man, was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey H. Helton and Nora T. Helton and his infant son, Charles H. Helton.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Kathleen Carson Helton of Morristown; and three children, Patty (Earl) Brewer of Morristown; Mike Helton of Morristown; and David (Margaret) Helton of Walland. William, known as “Peeps” to his grandchildren, is also survived by six grandchildren, Mark (Alyson) Brewer of Russellville; Melanie Brewer Hodge of Bristol, Tennessee; Stephanie (Randy) Vaughn of Mount Juliet, Tennessee; Amy (Chad) Orr of Jefferson City; Rebekah (Caleb) Gaston of Columbia, South Carolina; and Clinton Helton of Barbourville, Kentucky; and thirteen great-grandchildren, Corey, Sam, and Gracie Brewer; Harrison, William, Avery, and Joseph Hodge; Noah and Matthew Vaughn; Savanah, Laurel, Kaylyn, and Carson Orr.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 22, 2014 at 3 p.m. at Allen Funeral Home with graveside service to immediately follow at Bethesda Cemetery. The Rev. Allen Shupe of Economy United Methodist Church will officiate the services.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday prior to the service at the funeral home.

VIRGINIA PATTERSON HIXON

Virginia Patterson Hixon, 79, of New Market, passed away Thursday, June 19, 2014.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Bryant “Teab” Hixon; parents, Clyde and Vesta Patterson; sister, Irene Hodge; and brothers, Ruben Jones and Johnny Patterson.

She is survived by her daughter, Donna (Darrin) Charette; granddaughter, Patricia (Danny) Wyatt; great-grandchildren, Brittney Wyatt, Damien (Amanda) Wyatt and Preston McKinney; great-great-granddaughter, Emily Wyatt; sisters, Kathleen (Lee) Bishop, Polly Mayes, Ruby Smith, and Viola (Sam) Colley; brother, Charles (Shirley) Patterson; sister-in-law, Frieda Patterson and brother-in-law, B.H. Hodge; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 8 p.m. Sunday, June 22, 2014 at Fielden Chapel with the Rev. Thomas Holt and the Rev. Robert Shaffer officiating. Interment will be 3 p.m. Monday in the Hixon Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. prior to the service at Fielden Funeral Home in New Market.

Charles F. Ratliff, of Bulls Gap, passed away at his home Saturday, June 21, 2014.

Betty Owens Seals, 85, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at her home in Sevierville.

Graveside services will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday, June 22, 2014 in Hamblen Memory Gardens. Funeral services were held 6 p.m. Saturday, June 21, 2014 in the East Chapel of Allen Funeral Home. Receiving of friends followed the service.
