Douglas Eugene Adams, 52, of Morristown, passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at his home.

Cremation arrangements are being handled by Stetzer Funeral Home, Morristown.

C. A. Coffey, 86, of Bean Station passed away on June 18, 2014, at his home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Buena Coffey; five brothers and one sister.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Ellen Bray Coffey and three sons, first son, Charles and wife, Jeanette Davis Coffey; granddaughter, Alivia Gibbs and husband, Duane Gibbs; great-grandkids, Bethany and Kylan Gibbs; granddaughter, Becky Coffey and grandson, Chris and wife, Heather Jones Coffey; second son, Don and wife, Linda Bibee Coffey; grandson, Don II and wife, Lora Johnson Coffey; great-grandson, Garrett Coffey; grandsons, Josh and Matt Coffey; third son, Doug and Phyllis McCullough Coffey; step-grandsons, Greg McCullough and Gary McCullough; step-great-grandson, Christian McCullough; step-granddaughter, Leanne Crockrell and husband, Richard Crockrell; step-great-grandson, Brandon Crockrell and step-great-granddaughter, Lauren Crockrell. C. A. is also survived by one brother and two sisters.

Family will receive friends on Friday, June 20 at 5- 8 p.m. at Barnard’s Grove Baptist Church in Bean Station. Funeral services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Barnard’s Grove Baptist Church immediately followed by grave side service at the Bean Station Cemetery.

MARY ELIZABETH PATTERSON DEVOTIE

Mary Elizabeth Patterson Devotie, 79, of Morristown, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System.

Funeral services will be at 8 p.m. Friday, June 20 at Westside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Garland Sergeant and the Rev. Robert Fultz officiating. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 21 at Swannsylvania Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, prior to the service at the funeral home.

RICHARD L. FOX

Mr. Richard L. Fox, 62, of Washburn, born Dec. 7, 1951 died Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at UT Medical Center.

He was preceded in death by parents, J. C. and Estelle Fox; brother, Jerry Fox.

He is survived by daughter, Jennifer Holt and husband, Greg; grandson, Trevor Holt; sister, Beverly Coffey and husband, Steve; niece, Stephenie McGinnis and husband, Shawn; special friends, Gary and Kathy Acuff, Doyle McElhaney, Steve Lay, Sam Dyer and Johnny Carpenter family; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Friday, June 20 at Cooke-Campbell Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Randy Kincaid and the Rev. Greg Hurst officiating. Family and friends will meet for interment 11 a.m. Saturday, June 21 at Liberty Hill Cemetery, Washburn.

Pallbearers will be Steve Lay, Tony Carpenter, John Holt, Gary Acuff, Steven Acuff and Aaron Helms. Honorary pallbearers will be Doyle McElhaney, Sam Dyer and Johnny Ray Carpenter. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday, Cooke-Campbell Mortuary, Maynardville.

WILLIAM C. HELTON

William C. Helton “Peeps,” 88, of Morristown, passed away Thursday, June 19, 2014 at his home.

William (Bill) was born Aug. 19, 1925. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He worked for Hamblen County Motor Company/Bob Bales Ford for 39 years and was a faithful member of Economy United Methodist Church for 60 years.

William, a devoted family man, was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey H. Helton and Nora T. Helton and his infant son, Charles H. Helton.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Kathleen Carson Helton of Morristown; and three children, Patty (Earl) Brewer of Morristown; Mike Helton of Morristown; and David (Margaret) Helton of Walland, Tennessee. William, known as “Peeps” to his grandchildren, is also survived by six grandchildren, Mark (Alyson) Brewer of Russellville; Melanie Brewer Hodge of Bristol, Tennessee; Stephanie (Randy) Vaughn of Mount Juliet; Amy (Chad) Orr of Jefferson City; Rebekah (Caleb) Gaston of Columbia, South Carolina and Clinton Helton of Barbourville, Kentucky; and 13 great-grandchildren, Corey, Sam and Gracie Brewer, Harrison, William, Avery and Joseph Hodge, Noah and Matthew Vaughn, Savanah, Laurel, Kaylyn and Carson Orr.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 22 at 3 p.m. at Allen Funeral Home with graveside service to immediately follow at Bethesda Cemetery. The Rev. Allen Shupe of Economy United Methodist Church will officiate the services. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mary Carley Linkous Moore, 86, of Morristown, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at Physicians Regional Medical Center in Knoxville.

SAMMIE MAE RAMSEY

Sammie Mae Ramsey, 51, of Morristown, passed away suddenly at her home in Brockland Acres on Tuesday, June 17, 2014. Sammie Mae attended West End Elementary School and Cocke County High School in Newport during her early education years. She was a very loving daughter, sister, mother, wife, grandmother, aunt, sister-in-law, cousin and friend. She adored all of her loving and beautiful family.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and cooking special meals. One of her simple-pleasures in life was to be with her family. She was married to her husband, retired E6 Staff Sergeant William “Bill” Ramsey for the last 35 years. During her husband’s military tours of duty, they were stationed and lived in numerous cities in the United States such as Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, Colorado; Fort Benning in Columbus, Georiga; and earlier in their marriage they lived in Butzbach, Germany.

Sammie Mae was preceded in death by her father, Lavonne Thomas; her brothers, Johnny Maurice Thomas and Harold Brent Thomas; her sister, Vera Lee Bandy; her grandmothers, Alice Stewart and Melvina Hatcher; her grandfather, Sam Hatcher Jr.; and uncle, Sam Hatcher, III; her mother-in-law, Lilly Mae Ramsey; and father-in-law, Joe Ramsey.

She is survived by her mother, Ernestine Thomas of Morristown; husband, William “Bill” Ramsey; daughters, April Ramsey, Ikeshia Ramsey and Jescina Ramsey, all of Morristown; son, Joseph “Bubble” Ramsey; brother, Walter P. (Marsha) Thomas; sisters, Yvonne (Lewis) Simpson, all of Morristown; Mary Lynn (Dion) Dykes Sr. of Newport; Ardena (Alonzo) Arnold of Morristown; and Melvinlene Thomas of Atlanta, Georgia. She will truly missed by her adoring grandchildren, Jamir Hodge, NyJaya Lardell, Zyontis Tramill and Kelik Ramsey, all of Morristown. She leaves to mourn a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, in-laws, friends and relatives; and two special friends, Geraldine Mantooth and Linda Dalton, both of Morristown.

Her funeral will be at the Manes Funeral Home in Newport,at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 21. Receiving of family and friends at noon until 1 p.m.

BETTY OWENS SEALS

Betty Owens Seals, 85, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at her home in Sevierville. She was a former member of Fairfield Baptist Church of Morristown and a current member of First Baptist Church of Sevierville. She was a retired grandmother as well as a loving mother and great-grandmother. She was devoted to her family.

She is preceded in death by her husband of more than 40 years, Quentin “Josh” Seals; parents, Earl and Sallie Crews Owens; son, Kirby Seals; grandson, Matt Seals; four sisters, Anna Long, Emily Meek, Mary Frances Walker and Helen Purkey; five brothers, James, Howard, Kenneth, Willie and Earl Jr. Owens.

She is survived by daughter, Darlene (Gary) Roach and son, Quentin (Tina) Seals; grandchildren, Sally Tate, Sandra (Matt) Manning, Susan (Andy) Steele, Sarah (Will) Allen, Grant Elizabeth Seals, Kate (Justin) Brooks and Megan (Cory) Wilson; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, J. E. Owens; daughter-in-law, Mindy Norton; numerous nieces, nephews and special friend and caregiver, Gay West.

Funeral services will be 6 p.m. Saturday, June 21 in the East Chapel of Allen Funeral Home. Receiving of friends will follow the service. Graveside services will 3:30 p.m. Sunday, June 22 in Hamblen Memory Gardens.

John Wayne Woods, 58, of Whitesburg, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at his residence.
