James L. (Jimmy) Daniel, 73, of Jefferson City, and formerly of Rutledge, passed away April 14, 2014 at his home. He was of the Baptist faith. He farmed before going to Magnavox, where he worked for 22 years before retirement. His hobbies were hunting, fishing and old cars. He loved his Grainger County tomatoes and Hardee’s gravy and biscuits.

He was preceded in death by parents, Chris and Elsie Daniel of Rutledge; grandson, Zachary Daniel; son-in-law, Wayne Davis and daughter-in-law, Brenda Daniel; brothers, J. L., Rayford, Gene, Charles (Bud) and Marcus (Pude); sister, Mary Elizabeth; and sister-in-law, Mamie Daniel.

He is survived by loving wife of 30 years, Betty; sons, Jamie of Asheville, N.C., Eddie and Rick of Rutledge; daughters, Christine Davis of Rutledge, Tammy Daniel and fiancé, Bo Ridley of White Pine, Diane (Terry) Brooks of Jefferson City; first wife, Georgia Daniel of Rutledge; sisters, Dorothy Daniel, Bonnie (Charles) Mills of Rutledge, and Nancy (Eddie) Frankenburg of Bean Station; brother-in-law, Herschel (Barbara) Rogers of Lenoir City; sisters-in-law, Joyce Justice of Knoxville, Barbara Luttrell of Lenoir City; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; very special pet, Missy; granddog, Oscar; special friends, Fannie Lewis and Helen Anderson; many friends and family.

Funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 16 at Farrar Funeral Home with the Rev. Gail Twaine officiating. Family and friends will gather at 10:45 a.m. Thursday morning at Jefferson Memorial Gardens for an 11 a.m. graveside interment service. Family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday evening prior to the service.

Cora Ellen Ward Harr, 92, formerly of Watauga, passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2014 at Hillview Health Center, Elizabethton. A native of Avery County, N.C., Cora was a daughter of the late James Monroe and Arizona Millsaps Ward. She came to Elizabethton to live in March of 1939, at the age of 17.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Elbert Frederick Harr (Feb. 23, 2004); six brothers, George Ward, Dayton Ward, Ron Ward, Tom Ward, Mike Ward and Raleigh Ward; and five sisters, Anna Oaks, Grace Harmon, Jane Greene, Eliza Stines and Susie Trivett.

Cora was a member of Fairview Baptist Church where she worked for 32 years in the preschool department, served on the kitchen committee and worked as a deacon’s wife for years. She also served as a vacation Bible school teacher for many years.

Survivors include two daughters, Janice Murray and husband, Wayne Murray Sr., Johnson City; Ruth Ann Ford and husband, Richard, Talbott; two sons, J.C. Harr and fiancée, Kathy Thomas of Elizabethton; Wayne Harr and wife, Rachel of Watauga; nine grandchildren, Wayne Murray Jr. of Atlanta, Ga.; Anthony Frederick Murray and wife, Carrie of Johnson City; Renee Keller and husband, Travis of Arkansas; Rhonda Grooms and husband, Kevin of Morristown; Rebecca Ellen Seal and husband, Matthew of Morristown; Tammy Markland and husband, Kenny of Elizabethton; Shannon Harr of Elizabethton; Sherry Shepard and husband, Acyle of Johnson City; Heather Cole and husband, Keith of Elizabethton; 11 great-grandchildren, Russell Vines, John Vines, Josh Markland, Zac Markland, Hayden Keller, Sierra Clark, Kallie Cole, Cooper Anthony Cole, Jon Shepard, Cora Beth Seal and Millie June Seal; four special nieces, Delorise Lentz, Linda Clawson, Mary Ann (Ward) Rhine and Reba Church; and several other nieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate Cora’s life will be conducted at 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 17 in the Riverside Chapel at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Dr. Kenneth Jordan officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mrs. Debbie Gouge, soloist. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Thursday or at the home of her daughter, Janice Murray, and the home of her son, Wayne Harr, at anytime.

The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 18 at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be grandsons, Anthony Frederick Murray and Wayne Murray Jr.; great-grandsons, Josh Markland and Zac Markland; grandsons-in-law, Kenny Markland, Keith Cole, Kevin Grooms, Matthew Seal and Travis Keller. Honorary pallbearers will be Acyle Shepard, Bobby Dugger, Buddy Arney, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Caldwell, Betty Isaacs, Tony Mottern, Bob Livingston, Jim Parlier, Bernice Hyder, Barbara Campbell, and Dr. James Shipley. Everyone will meet at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton at 10:15 a.m. on Friday to go in procession to the cemetery.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Robert Walter and the nurses and staff of Hillview Health Center Station II for the loving care and support given to “Miss Cora.”

Sarah Manes Haskins, 80, of Bulls Gap passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System. She was born April 11, 1934.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester F. Haskins and parents, Charles B. and Flo Couch Manes.

She is survived by her two sons, Chester B. and Bill Haskins of the home; sister, Barbara Burkhart and husband, John, of Bulls Gap; brothers, Bill Manes and wife, Rose, of Rogersville, Charles B. Manes and wife, Marilyn, of Newport; six nephews and one niece.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 17 at First United Methodist Church in Bulls Gap. Funeral services will follow with Pastor Faith E. Ramer and Dr. Jimmy Robertson officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 18 at Willoughby Cemetery.

Ruthelen Hodge, 56, of Morristown, passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System. 

Funeral services will be 8 p.m., Thursday, April 17 in Mayes Family Services, Downtown Chapel.  Graveside will be 11 a.m., Friday in Jarnagin Cemetery.  The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday prior to the services at the funeral home.

ClaraBelle Midkiff McElhaney, 84, of Morristown passed away Monday, April 14, 2014 at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System. She was a life-long member of Alpha Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Edward “Dutch” McElhaney; son, Stacy Ralph McElhaney; parents, Irvin Howard MidKiff and Gladys Ivey Etter Midkiff; sisters, Ethel Mae Midkiff Bordner and Rebecca Wyoline Midkiff Wilmoth; nephew, Mark Ivan Wilmoth; grandparents, John White Midkiff and Ruth Odell Bell Midkiff and James Granville Etter and Nancy Belle Ivey Etter.

ClaraBelle is survived by her daughter, Ivey Susan McElhaney Livesay; grandchildren, Joshua Allen Livesay and Jessica Danielle Livesay, all of Morristown; special sister, Mary Imogene Midkiff Hacker of California; nephews, James Hacker, Phillip Hacker and Eric Hacker and their families, Tommy Wilmoth and family, and Mark McElhaney and family; and niece, Robin Parks.

Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Friday, April 18 in the chapel of Mayes Family Services, Downtown and receiving of friends 5-8 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 19 in Jarnagin Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alpha Baptist Church building fund.

Billy D. Patterson, 46, of Morristown, passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at his residence.

Bobby Eric Wolfe, 28, of Morristown, passed away on Monday, April 14, 2014 at Claiborne County Hospital. He was a member of Lee Valley Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Cora Beth Wolfe; brother, Gary Joe Wolfe; and grandfathers, Bruce Wolfe, Phillip Pumphrey, David Myers; and grandmother, Lois Greene.

Survivors include his wife, Casandra Garland Wolfe; children, Cora LaShay Wolfe, Cylie Jordan Wolfe, Landon Alezander Wolfe, Chiara Kathleen Wolfe; parents, Roger Wolfe, Marilyn Pumphrey; stepmother, Karen Wolfe; grandmothers, Gladys Wolfe, Paulette Pumphrey; sisters, Stacy (Tim) Ledford, Kassy (Matt) Keller, Kayla (Michael) Wilder; brother, Leonard (Jessica)Carpenter; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 17 at 8 p.m. in the chapel of Stubblefield Funeral Home. The Rev. Ricky Witt will officiate. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home on Friday at 12:45 p.m. to go in procession to Setser Cemetery in Sneedville for a 2 p.m. graveside service.

Pallbearers will be Matt Keller, Larry Garland, Michael Wilder, Tim Ledford, Kerry Livesay, Josh Manis, Scotty Pumphrey and Gregg Greer.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. prior to the services.
