Living Promise Lutheran to celebrate next step for new building
Living Promise Lutheran Church in Morristown recently purchased 9.4 acres of land for the site of its new church home. The church will celebrate this milestone with a public gathering on Saturday, April 12 from 5 to 8 p.m. at its new site, the corner of 160 and Dearing Road.
In 2008, Living Promise started as a simple plan to meet together to study God’s word. In 2011, Matthew Westra, a graduate of Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary, Mequon, Wis., became its first full-time pastor. A temporary meeting location, 440 West 3rd North Street, was secured in 2012.
Since its beginning, Living Promise has been a church that centers its message on the unchanging truth of the gospel. Living Promise promotes family-style worship. Its music is a blend of traditional hymns mixed with some contemporary easier songs to sing.
“We are a true family church that wants to share the good news of Jesus’ salvation,” Pastor Westra said. “We can’t wait to take this next step with the community of Morristown.”
Activities will include a corn hole tournament, bounce house, bonfire with sing along, and free picnic food.
Sunday worship is at 10:45 a.m. with Bible study and Sunday school classes at 9:30 a.m. Small group get-togethers and other activities can be found on the church’s online event calendar. For more information, call 423-438-3033 or visit livingpromisechurch.com.
