J.W. BRYANT

J.W. Bryant, 86, of Morristown, passed away Tuesday, Ja. 28, 2014 at The Heritage Center in Morristown. He served our country in the Korean Conflict and was retired from Enka after 40 years of service. He attended Lakeway Community Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Brummit Farl and Jettie Kyker Bryant; son, Daniel Lee Bryant; brothers, Oliver and William Bryant and sisters, Ida Brown and Elizabeth Bryant.

He is survived by his son, Monty (Loretta) Bryant and grandchildren, Mattie and Lucas Bryant as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2 in the East Chapel of Allen Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 2 p.m. in Hamblen Memory Gardens with the Rev. Mark Abernathy officiating.

Laurel Jean Guyette Creazzo, 65, of Morristown, departed this life at home on Jan. 25, 2014 in Fuquay Varina, N.C. after her valiant fight against cancer.

The family will receive friends and family in the East chapel of Allen Funeral Home in Morristown. Friday, Jan. 31 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. prior to the funeral service at 8:30 p.m. The family will have a private burial the following day.

James Lester Davis, 79, of White Pine, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014 at Physicians Regional Medical Center in Knoxville.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1 at Westside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Davis officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Hamblen Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 31 at the funeral home.

Marvin Glen “Hutch” Hutchinson, 64, of Talbott, passed away Jan. 25, 2014 at Tennova Residential Hospice in Knoxville.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1 at the Hardcore Disciples Biker Church with the Rev. Ray Slater officiating. The family will receive friends 3 to 4 p.m. prior to services at the church.

Dorothy “Dottie” Ruth Jarnigan, 72, formerly of Mooresburg, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014 at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System.

The family will receive friends Friday, Jan. 31 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the chapel of Stetzer Funeral Home. Family and friends will meet Saturday, Feb. 1 at Moore Cemetery in Mooresburg at 12:45 p.m. for a 1 p.m. graveside interment service.

Venus Dawn Patterson, 45, of Dandridge, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014.

She is preceded in death by her infant child; father, Larry Duckworth.

Benjamin F. Richter, 79, of Morristown, passed away Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014 at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System.

ALMA FAYE ROMINES

Alma “Faye” Romines, of Morristown, was called home to celebrate with our Heavenly Father on her 80th birthday, Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014. Faye was born and raised in Sevierville and moved to Morristown in 1971 to work for Volunteer Blind Industries until her retirement in 1994.

She was a member of Liberty Hill Methodist Church until moving to West Morristown, and was then adopted by the ladies Sunday school class at Lakeshore Road Baptist Church. She liked many sports, but none as well as UT Football and Atlanta Braves Baseball. She also enjoyed gospel and bluegrass music.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Roxie Moore; sisters, Ruby Moore and Edna (Clyde) Breeden; brothers, Bob and Charlie Moore; son-in-law, John Hickey; grandson, Chad Hickey; and great-grandchildren, John Richardson and Brookelyn Collins.

She leaves behind to celebrate her life, daughters, Charlene Hickey and Patsy (Bill) Collins; grandchildren, Tammy (Glenn) Fleenor, Amber (Mark) Richardson, Chris (Krystal) Collins, Pam (Brad) Drinnon and Kayla Collins; great-grandchildren, Dustin and Candace Wells, Aubrey Fleenor, Isaac Drinnon, Ty and Chace Collins, Rebekah Carver, and Stephen Richardson; brothers, Paul Moore and Shirl (Louise) Moore; sisters, Sue (Raymond) Self and Betty (Robert) McIntosh; sister-in-law, Sheila Moore; and several nieces, nephews and many friends.

The family would like to thank Lakeshore Road Baptist Church and Mary Bryant for their fellowship and thoughtfulness during the last several years for our loved one.

PATRICIA ‘PATT’ SCOTT

Dr. Patricia (Patt) Scott, 88, of Jefferson City, entered heaven on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014. Patt was born in Orange, Calif. and lived mostly in California and Wyoming until the age of 67, at which time she moved to Morristown. Patt held M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in education and she spent most of her professional life teaching and loving young children.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Walter W. (Bill) Scott, whom she married in 1947. Bill and Patt served the Lord faithfully throughout their marriage, pastoring many churches in California, Wyoming and Tennessee. After Bill went to be with the Lord, Patt served on several mission fields, including her heart’s passion: China. She is also preceded in death by her son, Daniel S. Scott CWO-4, who was killed in 1991 while on active duty in Honduras.

Patt is survived by her remaining children, Dr. David Scott of Spokane, Wash., Rebekah Tidwell of Naples, Fla., Dr. Timothy Scott of San Diego, Calif., Phil Scott of Seattle, Wash., Mikki Brooks of Jefferson City; 23 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

A viewing and fellowship will be held at Farrar Funeral Home in Jefferson City, on Monday, Feb. 3 from 5 until 7 p.m., followed by a home-going celebration at 7 p.m. with Dr. Timothy Scott officiating. Burial will be at Mountain Home National Cemetery in Johnson City at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 4.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Manley Baptist Church or Faith Baptist Church missions programs.

Kenneth Wayne “Bud” Smith, 76, of Morristown, passed away Monday, Jan. 27, 2014 at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System after a lengthy illness. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Friday, Jan. 31 at Mayes Family Services, Downtown. Graveside service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 1 in Hamblen Memory Gardens with the Rev. Darrell Alder officiating.

Marjorie Staggers, 91, of Morristown, passed away Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014. She was a member of First Baptist Church Morristown.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Edward Staggers; son, John Anthony Staggers; two infant brothers and sisters, Gladys, Francis and Lucy.

She is survived by her daughters, Judy Staggers (Dr. Robert) Finley of Fulton, Ky. and Pamela Sue Staggers (Dr. Dean) Haun of Morristown; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brothers, Homer (Pauline) Dobbins of Sellersburg, Ind. and Bob Dobbins.

The family would like to thank friends and caregivers at Regency Retirement Village and Smokey Mountain Home Health and Hospice.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31 at Faith Baptist Church, 3755 Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN with her sons-in-law, Dr. Dean Haun and Dr. Robert Finley officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Gardens, 3700 Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN. Mrs. Staggers will lie in state from 12:30 to 1 p.m. prior to the service.

ROY MALCOLM WILLIAMS

Roy Malcolm Williams, 93, of Regency Retirement Village of Morristown, went to be withour Lord on the evening of Jan. 29, 2014, at Lakeway Regional Hospital. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he faithfully attended for 65 years – 23 without missing a Sunday, until failing health.

Malcolm served in the U.S. Army during WWII where he was stationed at Pearl Harbor and later moved to Saipan Island, serving his country 36 months overseas without furlough. Eight days after his return home, he married the love of his life, Mattie Bell Green Williams. He worked as an upholsterer at Modern Upholstery in Morristown for 35 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Herbert Williams and Eva Ethel Green Williams; sisters, Janet Pauline (John) Hull, Freda Mareen Williams; brothers, Matthew, Mark, John, Gene (Mary) and Standley (Betty) Williams; and his wife of 65 years, Mattie Bell Williams.

Survivors include his daughter, Rowena and son-in-law, Ken Smith, of Morristown; grandchildren, Regina Kinsler (Jeff) of Morristown, Katrina Faith (Kreg) of Orlando, Fla., and Kendrick Smith (Hollie) of Knoxville; great-grandchildren, Matthew Kinsler of Morristown; Laura Katherine, Elizabeth, Lydia, William and Anna Faith of Orlando; and Blakeley, Ansley, and Caroline Smith of Knoxville; sisters-in-law, Evolene Green of Talbott and Odell Bell of Morristown; brother-in-law Horace Green of Talbott; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 7 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 1, at Mayes Family Services Downtown Chapel with the Rev. Fred Lehrer and the Rev. Larry Parrott officiating. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 2 at Bethesda Cemetery with military honors conducted by VFW Post No. 5266. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday evening prior to the service.
