Mike Crawford, 52, of Bean Station, formerly of Surgoinsville, passed away Monday, Jan. 27, 2014 at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System. He was a member of East Wood Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Kate and Connor Crawford.

He is survived by his wife, Loretta of the home; son, Brandon Crawford of Rogersville; daughter, Victoria Crawford of Bean Station; three grandchildren, Maddie Crawford, Jackson Crawford and Jada Huskey; brother, Rick Crawford and wife, Peggy of Surgoinsville; sister, Lisa Owens and husband, Roger, of Russellville; several nieces and nephews.

Mike enjoyed watching Tennessee Vols Football and NASCAR where Tony Stewart was his favorite driver.

LAUREL JEAN GUYETTE CREAZZO

Laurel Jean Guyette Creazzo, 65, of Morristown, departed this life at home on Jan. 25, 2014 in Fuquay Varina, N.C. after her valiant fight against cancer. She was a co-owner of Kidocio Fun Science for Kids in Raleigh, N.C. She enjoyed dancing most of her life. And she loved spending time with her family and friends.

Laurel was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Lucille Guyette.

She is survived by her three children, Leigh Ann Jensen of Fuquay Varina, N.C., Michael (Melanie) Wemlinger of League City, Texas, and Kristin Hill (Daniel Hill) of Winter Park, Fla.; her grandchildren, Michael Jensen, Gabe Jensen, Grady Hill and Emma Hill; siblings, Susan Riner, married to Steven Riner of Morristown, and Cherie Moran, married to Joe Moran of Bonita Springs, Fla.; nieces and nephews, Shonda Johnson (Greg Johnson) Griffin and Taylor Johnson, Leslie Burchell (Evan Burchell), Eli Burchell, Christopher Carpenter, Joshua Carpenter and Ryan Carpenter.

The family of Laurel would like to thank The Cancer Center of North Carolina, especially Dr. Roy Cromartie, the nurses of Wake Med Hospital, Dr. Jeffrey Abrams, Hospice of Wake County and all the fine people who gave her such wonderful care.

The family will receive friends and family Friday, Jan. 31 at Allen Funeral Home in Morristown from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the East Chapel of Allen Funeral Home prior to the service at 8:30 p.m. The family will have a private burial the following day.

Billy Robert Crittenden, 49, passed away early Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014 at his home in Whitesburg. He was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.

Billy leaves his wife, Angela Crittenden; daughter, Amber Crittenden; stepson, Preston Davis; mother, Wanda Crittenden of Whitesburg; father, Robert Crittenden of Whitesburg; brothers, Ronald and Chad Crittenden; sister-in-law, Connie Crittenden of Whitesburg; several aunts, uncles; three nieces Emily, Madison and Taylor; in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Albertin; Ross and Debbie; and a host of friends.

The family will receive friends noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1 in the East Chapel of Allen Funeral Home prior to the funeral service at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Roger Porter and the Rev. Terry Bunch officiating. Interment will follow in Bent Creek Cemetery.

JAMES LESTER DAVIS

James Lester Davis, 79, of White Pine, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014 at Physicians Regional Medical Center in Knoxville. He was a member of Sartain Springs Missionary Baptist Church, was retired from New Jersey Zinc Company, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George W. and Margaret Walker Davis; sisters, Kathleen Davis Alexander and Nina Davis Sparry; brothers, Robert L. Davis and George W. Davis; sisters-in-law, Bobbie Lewis Davis, Gladys Jarnigan Davis and Pauline Taylor Davis; and brother-in-law, Thomas R. Marshall.

He is survived by his son, Michael (Sandy) Davis; special granddaughters, Nikki and Madison, all of Chattanooga; ex-wife and mother of his son, Wanda Marsh Davis; sister, Byrle Davis Marshall; brothers, the Rev. Don (Ethel) Davis, of Morristown, Kenneth (Barbara) Davis of White Pine and Billie T. Davis of Union City, Ohio; brothers and sisters-in-law, Sonny (Delores) Marsh and Roger (Mary Jo) Marsh; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1 at Westside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Davis officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Hamblen Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 31 at the funeral home.

ARDIS ‘MS. D’ DeARMOND

Ardis Moore (Ms. D) DeArmond, 94 of Morristown, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014 at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System to go to her eternal home with her late husband, Herbert DeArmond Sr. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and had taught Sunday school for 60 years.

As she was known to many as Ms. D, she was a great prayer warrior and loved by all. She retired from the Morristown School System. Ms. D was a Pink Lady at Morristown Hamblen Hospital for 22 years.

Mrs. DeArmond was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert DeArmond Sr; sons, Herbert DeArmond Jr. and Richard DeArmond; grandson, Donald DeArmond; parents, two brothers and one sister. Ms. D is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and the Rev. Johnny Tallent; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Dawn DeArmond of Mississippi; grandchildren, Tina Catron, Robin (Chuck) Mehaffey, Palmer and Andrew DeArmond, Rick DeArmond and Dawn DeArmond; 10 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; brother, Gene (Fern) Moore; special daughter-in-law, Joyce Walker; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

The family would like to thank Life Care and all of our special CNA’s that took such good care of her and Dr. Rama and the staff at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System.

Gracelyn Elizabeth Ebsch, infant daughter of loving parents Ian and Jennifer Ebsch of Dandridge, passed away on Jan. 27, 2014 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center.

Gracelyn is survived by her sisters, Presley Ebsch and Maleigha and Kiley Ballard; grandparents, Christine and Troy Burchett, James Murray and Barbara and Gary Ebsch; great-grandparents, Arnold Burns, Patricia Ebsch, Lorene Murray and Mary Mitchell.

She is preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Nadine Sargent and Al Ebsch.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, Feb. 1 from 1 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the graveside service which will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery at 2 p.m.

HAMALTON C. FAIRCHILD

Hamalton C. Fairchild, 71, of Talbott, passed away Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014 at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System. He served in the U.S. Navy and retired as an airline pilot from World Airways after 39 years. He was a general aviation enthusiast, loved wood-working, and was an avid fisherman. He was a loving husband and devoted father.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Vesta Fairchild; and brothers, Wolford Douglas, Samuel L. Fairchild and Lonnie Fairchild.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Francine Fairchild; daughters, Elizabeth Fairchild of Knoxville and Sarah Fairchild of Washington, D.C.; brother, Hurley (Delores) Davis of Eaton Town, N.J.; sister-in-law, Martha Douglas of Stanfield, Ore.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30 at Westside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. James Tullock officiating. Interment will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service at the funeral home.

Ronald Bruce Houck, 73, of Rogersville, passed away Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014 at Wellmont Hawkins County Memorial Hospital.  He attended Persia Baptist Church. A loving husband, father and grandfather, Ron especially enjoyed being baby sitter and chauffeur for his grandchildren. He was known for his huge heart and lending a helping hand for anyone in need.

Mr. Houck  was a dairy farmer for more than 24 years before serving as deputy assessor field appraisal specialist for Hawkins County.  Ron was born in Dayton, Ohio to the late George and Luella Lafferty Houck. He was a multi-sport athlete at Troy High School in Troy, Ohio. Ron played football at The Ohio State University and contributed to winning the 1961 National Championship. The family faithfully attended Ohio State’s home games.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Pat Dyer Houck of the home; daughters, Heather Parrott and husband, Jeremy of Rogersville, Dayna Weissfeld and husband, Steve of Safety Harbor, Fla.; son, Brad Houck and wife, Kasey of Rogersville; seven grandchildren, Tucker Houck, Emma Houck, Anna Houck, Clay Houck, Drew Parrott, Paxton Parrott and Ethan Williams and fiance’, Jessica Greene; one great-grandson, Jayce Williams; sister, Judy Houck of Dayton, Ohio; brother, John Houck of Sawyer, Mich.

Visitation hours were 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 12 at Broome Funeral Home, Rogersville.

Funeral service was conducted at 8 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 12 in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Kevin Wisecarver and the Rev. John R. Parrott, Jr. officiating.  Graveside service was at 11 a.m., Monday, Jan. 13 at McKinney Cemetery.

MARVIN GLEN ‘HUTCH’ HUTCHINSON

Marvin Glen “Hutch” Hutchinson, 64, of Talbott, passed away Jan. 25, 2014 at Tennova Residential Hospice in Knoxville. He was a retired coal miner, and an avid outdoorsman, fishing Cherokee Lake and hunting in West Virginia. He also enjoyed riding his Harley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Evelyn Hutchinson.

Survivors include his fiancée, Jamie Sue Ellis; sons, Johnny Hutchinson and Brandon Hutchinson; daughters, Judy (Howie) Hixson and Alexa Hutchinson; grandchildren, Bryanna Hutchinson, Ethan Hixson, Blake Hixson, Leslie Martin, Dakota Harbison, Stephen Paredes and Landon Paredes; brothers, Bobby (Kathy) Hutchinson and Jerry (Brenda) Hutchinson; special cousin, Mike Hutchinson; and special friend, Joe Gibson.

Special thanks to Tennova Residential Hospice, UT Hospital, UT Home Hospice and all his brothers and sisters at the Hardcore Disciples Biker Church in Morristown. A memorial service will be held 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1 at the Hardcore Disciples Biker Church with the Rev. Ray Slater officiating. DOROTHY RUTH ‘DOTTIE’ JARNIGAN

Dorothy “Dottie” Ruth Jarnigan, 72, formerly of Mooresburg, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014 at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System. She was a member of Bentley’s Chapel Baptist Church and was a former teacher’s assistant at Cherokee High School in Rogersville.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Jarnigan; parents, Theodore “Boots” and Louise Moore Livesay.

She is survived by her children, Langston Jarnigan and Shasta Jarnigan of White Pine; her three loving dogs, Annabelle, Prissy and Bear.

The family will receive friends Friday, Jan. 31 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the chapel of Stetzer Funeral Home. Family and friends will meet Saturday, Feb. 1 at Moore Cemetery in Mooresburg at 12:45 p.m. for a 1 p.m. graveside interment service.

ROBERT ‘BOB’ JONES

Robert (Bob) Jones, 69, of White Pine, went to be with the Lord, Monday Jan. 27, 2014 after a lengthy illness.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, the late William (Bill) Jones and Rosa Jones and also one sister, Elizabeth Hawkins.

He is survived by his daughter, Robbie Jones of Jefferson City; one brother, Cecil (Bud) Jones and his wife, Sharon of Williston, Fla.; a sister, Pat Ward and her husband, Billy of Albany, Ga.; three nephews, Keith Jones of Lander, Wy., Bobby Jones of Maryville, Darrel West Jr. of Orlando, Fla.; one niece, Tammy McClain of Orlando, Fla.; and a cousin, Hazel Arwood of White Pine who kept his family informed on his health as she made many visits to him in the hospital and nursing home; and Candy Barton, his caregiver in the absence of his family who lived in other states and was a wonderful friend to him until his demise.

Bob was born and lived in White Pine most of his life. He attended White Pine High School and was employed as a produce manager for Food Lion until his health began to fail.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, Feb. 2 at Farrar Funeral Home, White Pine at 2 p.m. He was a member of Lakeland Baptist Church. Pastor Tom Lindsey will be officiating.

Kenneth Wayne “Bud” Smith, 76, of Morristown, passed away Monday, Jan. 27, 2014 at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System after a lengthy illness. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

He was preceded in death by his son, Louis Smith; mother and father, John and Hazel Dearing Smith; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Paul and Ruby Gibson; sister, Micki Freeman; nephews, Tim and Phillip Smith and Jay Freeman.

Marjorie Staggers, 91, of Morristown, passed away Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014. She was a member of First Baptist Church Morristown.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Edward Staggers; son, John Anthony Staggers; two infant brothers and sisters, Gladys, Francis and Lucy.

She is survived by her daughters, Judy Staggers (Dr. Robert) Finley of Fulton, Ky. and Pamela Sue Staggers (Dr. Dean) Haun of Morristown; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brothers, Homer (Pauline) Dobbins of Sellersburg, Ind. and Bob Dobbins.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31 at Faith Baptist Church, 3755 Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN with her sons-in-law, Dr. Dean Haun and Dr. Robert Finley officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Gardens, 3700 Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN. Mrs. Staggers will lie in state from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service.

Gilbert J. Strange, 68, of Jefferson City, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014. He was a member of Gospel to the World Ministries Church.
