Weather forces Lakeway Area schedule changes
Mother Nature has forced several changes to the sports calendar in the Lakeway Area, beginning with several cancellations and postponements of basketball games.
Monday night’s Morristown West and Morristown East freshmen games were both postponed. East’s game at Cocke County which was originally scheduled for Monday night was moved to Thursday night at 7 p.m., while West’s home game with Cherokee on Monday was postponed with the new date and time to be announced.
Grainger also had their varsity home games against Union County on Monday postponed until Friday, Jan. 17.
Several games scheduled for tonight have also been postponed or moved.
The Cocke County at Morristown East games have been moved to Monday, Jan. 13, at their normal times, which also has forced the East freshmen to adjust their schedule even further. Thursday’s freshmen game against Grainger has been canceled, and Monday’s home freshmen game with Seymour has been moved to a later date that has yet to be announced.
Grainger’s home games against Cumberland Gap tonight have been moved to Saturday, Jan. 11, beginning at 3 p.m.
Jefferson County’s homes games against Seymour tonight were also moved. The Patriots will host the Eagles on Thursday, Jan. 9, beginning at 6 p.m. The junior varsity games will not be played that night.
The status of the Morristown West at Cherokee games in Rogersville tonight was still up in the air as of press time.
