James Adler, age 48, of Jefferson City, passed away Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014 at his home.

Arrangements will be announced by Mayes Family Services, West Chapel.

FOY EVELYN WRIGHT ARNOLD-KETNER

 

Foy Evelyn Wright Arnold – Ketner, a life long resident of East Tennessee, went home to be with The Lord, Monday, Dec. 30, 2013 at the age of 96 in Palm Beach, Fla.

She passed away at the Palm Beach Gardens Hospice Medical Center in North Palm Beach, Fla. She was born on Nov.26, 1917 in Middlesboro, Kentucky to the late George Hopkins and Myrtle Denny Wright.

She married George Walter Arnold in 1934 and moved to Kingsport. Together they were active members of the Highland Park Methodist Church until her husband became a minister in the Holston Conference. As the wife to a Methodist minister she had an active life holding many positions in the church. Her love was teaching Sunday school and being in church choirs and music ministry. She also was a beloved teacher of kindergarten and the handicapped. Foy lived a life of dedication to her savior and her family. She was a member of the Fairhaven United Methodist Church in Jonesborough.

In addition to her parents and seven siblings, she is preceded in death by her beloved husbands, the Rev. George W. Arnold and James R. Ketner and an infant child, George W. Arnold, Jr.

Surviving is her brother, Wallace Wright, and sisters, Eunice Sabet, Clarice Ellison, and Mary Ruth McCreary. She has five surviving children, Audrey A. Burnett of Fancy Gap, Virginia, Hilda L. Fletcher of Tappahannock, Va., Phillip S. Arnold of Chester, Virginia, David E. Arnold of Jonesborough, and Patricia L. Hafer of North Palm Beach, Fla. She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren and they were the joy of her life.

Although her family will truly miss her, we know she is now rejoicing in Heaven worshiping Jesus and being reunited with her loved ones.

Funeral services will be at Fairhaven United Methodist at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, with the Rev. Tae Hun Yoon and the Rev. Rick Clowers officiating. Interment will be at Washington County Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends Monday, Jan. 6, 2014 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home in Jonesborough from 5 to 7 p.m.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Fairhaven United Methodist Church 3131 W. Walnut Street Johnson City, TN 37601.

JAMES CURTIC BREWER ‘JC’

 

James Curtis “JC” Brewer, of Russellville, passed away on Friday, Jan. 3, 2014. He was born Sept. 1, 1938 and was a member of Union Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Dollie Brewer; grandparents, Dock and Bobbie Livesay, Fleenor and Mary Brewer; special mother and father-in-law, James and Dollie Davidson.

Survivors include his loving wife, Jeanette Davidson Brewer, who took special care of him through years of sickness; son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Lisa Brewer of Morristown; special grandson who was his pride and joy, Dylan Brewer of Johnson City; special family pet, Zeus; brothers, Ambrose (Peggy) Brewer, Ben (Nellie) Brewer, Earl (Patty) Brewer, and Dean (Susan) Brewer; sisters, Linda (Rookie) Inman, Letha Seal, and Teresa Laws; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Jan. 5 at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Denver Davidson and the Rev. Earl Bowlin. Family and friends will meet in Hamblen Memory Gardens on Monday at 1:45 p.m. for a 2 p.m. graveside service.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. prior to the services.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Interim and Amedysis Hospice.

Dorothy J. Carson, age 89, of Morristown passed away Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014 at Lakeway Regional Hospital.

HUGH ALAN DAVIS

 

Hugh Alan Davis, age 46, of Rogersville, passed away Friday, Jan. 3, 2014 at Wellmont Hawkins County Hospital.

Hugh was a member of Midtown Missionary Baptist Church and a Supervisor at Tuff Torq Corporation.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Marie Lawson and uncle, Rick Kinsler Hugh leaves his children, Tiffany Davis, (Adam Morrison), Dustin Davis and Caitlyn Davis; granddaughter, Taylann Morrison; parents, James and Louella Davis; sister: Wanda Neal (Jim Cody); brother, Jeff (Jodie) Davis; nephews, Dylan and Logan Davis, along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 5 in the chapel of Colboch-Price Funeral Home with the Rev. Glenn Bradley and the Rev. Roger Porter officiating. Music will be provided by the Gospel Four. Interment will follow in the family cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be Sunday, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

CYNTHIA DRINNON ‘CINDY’

 

Cynthia “Cindy” Drinnon, 55, of New Market, a virtuous woman far more precious than rubies, was called home on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014. Cindy was born on Aug. 17, 1958 to the late Nig and Scoot Cain. After coming to know the Lord at Lost Creek Friends “Quaker” Church, there was hardly a time that she wasn’t leading or participating in a church or a ministry. She stretched out her hands to her neighbors in need, her family, her church family and her many leaders from church camp. Clothed in strength and honor, she received her degree from Lincoln Memorial Unitversity and worked at Mountainview Youth Detention Facility as a Human Resource Director.

Cindy will always be loved by her husband, Stephen Drinnon, whose heart has trusted her for 37 years; and her daughters, Melissa Drinnon Peagler and Jessica Drinnon, who arise and call her blessed. Cindy will always be adored by her granddaughters, Cady and Lori Peagler and her son-in-law, Eddy Peagler.

Her virtues will be remembered by her brothers, Ricky and Rusty Cain; her sisters-in-law; her brothers-in-law; and her many beloved nieces and nephews. Cindy’s memory will be cherished by Faye Humbard; her aunts and uncles; and her many friends. A true Proverbs 31 woman. Thank you Lord, for sharing “Aunt Cindy” with all of us.

A celebration of Cindy’s life will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Lost Creek Friends Church with the Rev. David Goff officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service in Friends Station Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. prior to the service at the Church.

JERRY R. FOGLESONG

 

Jerry R. Foglesong, age 85, of Morristown, passed away, Friday, Jan. 3, 2014 in Morristown.

Mr. Foglesong will be remembered as a loving husband of 61 years to his wife Lyleen and a caring father and grandfather. He lead an active life of which included dancing, wood working, archery, fishing and boating.

Survived by his son, Harry Foglesong; daughters, Mellissa Evans and Stefani Ledbetter; grandson, Samuel Foglesong; granddaughter, Christine Fuller; great grandchildren, Shelby Fuller and Isaiah Foglesong; sister, Mary Lee Moffit of Battle Creek, Mich. and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Alice Foglesong; wife, Lyleen Foglesong and daughter, Diane Foglesong.

Jerry will be put to rest with his wife, Lyleen at a later date in Monticello, Ind.

Kenadee Mattalynn Bryse Hill-Wilburn, 2 months, of Whitesburg, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Jan. 2 at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System.

She is the daughter of Laina Hill and Matthew Wilburn. Mommy and Daddy love and miss their precious little angel.

She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Pearl and Ed Helbert, Donald and Grace Hill and Charles Shipman; and great-great-grandmother, Della O’Dell.

Kenadee is survived by her parents, Laina Hill and Matthew Wilburn; sister, Macelynn Hill-Wilburn; grandparents, Donnie and Vickie Sue Hill and Glenn and Deborah Wilburn; great-grandparents, Howell and Shirley House; uncles, Adam Hill and Andy Wilburn; aunt, Marandah Wilburn; special great-great aunt, Nora Banner; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Stubblefield Funeral Home on Monday, Jan. 6 at 7 p.m. The Reverends George McCoy, Jeremy Elkins, and Marvin Gregg will officiate. Family and friends will meet in Hamblen Memory Gardens Tuesday at 1:45 p.m. for a 2 p.m. graveside service.

Helen Leo Jackson, age 94, of Thorn Hill, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014 at Doctor’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.

Funeral services will be today, Sunday, Jan. 5 at 2 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Methodist Church in Thorn Hill with the Rev. Terry Dalton officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

MARY EVELYN DANCE LARRANCE ‘TUDY’

 

Mary Evelyn “Tudy” Dance Larrance, of Morristown, passed away early Friday, Jan. 3, 2014 at Morristown Hamblen Healthcare System.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Horace Beecher and Bessie Gobble Dance and her sister, Betty Dance Goan. Tudy was a member of First United Methodist Church in Morristown and was retired from South Central Bell.

She is survived by her son, Gregory Sharp, of Morristown; sister, Carolyn Slagle; nephews, Todd Slagle, Scott (Abby) Slagle and children, Ellie and Claire and niece, Amy Goan Harris (Dobson) and daughter, Emma.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014 at First United Methodist Church prior to the funeral service at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Chuck Starks officiating. Graveside services will be immediately following the service at Jefferson Memorial Gardens.

James Robert “JR” Moore, age 75, of Morristown, passed away on Friday, Jan. 3, 2014.

Bobby L. Proffitt, age 52, of Greeneville, went home to be with his Lord Friday, Jan. 3, 2014 at Laughlin Memorial Hospital he attended Our Fathers Place church.

Bobby was a friendly, caring, fun loving individual who was loved by everyone who came into his life.

He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Phyllis Dula and family of Clinton, Md.; special cousin, Shirley Weston and several other extended family members of Morristown and Greeneville; close friends, housemates and devoted staff from his extended family at Comcare who cared for him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Ella Proffitt and his biological mother, Helen Smith.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7 at Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel with Pastor Randy Davenport officiating

Interment will be held at Hamblen Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be family and friends of Comcare.

Mary Priscilla Shipley Rich, age 77, of Morristown, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family Jan. 2, 2014. She attended Solid Rock Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert L. Shipley; mother, Lucille Burgin Shipley; brother, Jim Shipley; and sister, Charlotte Allen.

She is survived by her husband, Coleman Rich; daughters, Kathy (Freddy) Shaver, Margie (Danny) Crum, Susie (Ronnie) Cline; sons, Roger (Kathy) Rich, and Glenn (Loraine) Rich; sisters, Jenny Crittenden and Christine Crittenden; and her brother, Wayne (Sylvia) Shipley; seven grandchildren, Michael, Greg, Travis, Whitney, Joseph, Katie Beth and Emily; eight great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Josh, Aiden, Jackson, Mallorie, Mason, Bailee, Madalynn; special friends, Ozella Coffey, Brenda Ford; nieces; nephews; friends; her puppies, Molly and Gracie; her special caregiver Danielle and hospice caregivers Cyndie and Jeannie.

Caywood Singleton, age 65, of Tazewell, born June 7, 1948, passed away on Jan. 4, 2014 at Fort Sanders Hospital.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Grace Singleton.

He is survived by sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Frank Myers of Thorn hill; brother, Ray Singleton of West Carrolton, Ohio; nephews, Jeff Myers and John Singleton; niece, Susie Singleton; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends Sunday, Jan. 5 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Coffey funeral Home Chapel in New Tazewell with funeral service to follow at 8 p.m. Graveside service will be Monday, Jan. 6 at 11 a.m. in the New Bethel Cemetery with Brother Billy Smith officiating. Cecil W. Smith Jr., 84, of Talbott, passed away Friday, Jan. 3, 2014. He was a member of Indian Ridge Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his children, June McKenny and Jimmy Smith; grandchildren, Tommy Cate, Scott Smith, Royce Gene McKenny, Dynthia Jane Cate and daughter-in-law, Terry Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Katie Lou Smith; children, Mariah Cate, Donnie Smith, Wanda Smith, Sarah (Jeff) Wolfe, Janet Smith and Kyle Leonard; nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 7 p.m. Sunday at Fielden Chapel with the Rev. Mike Henegar and the Rev. Stephen Belcher officiating. Interment will be 2 p.m. Monday in Jefferson memorial Gardens.

Tony Lee Strange, 37, of New Market, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Strange; grandfather, Jim Strange; grandparents, Ollie and Ike Murray; aunts, Syble Graydon and Patsy Smith.

He is survived by his mother, Savannah Strange; grandmother, Mildred Strange; aunts, Anna Rosser, Brenda Taylor, Debbie Strange, Rosemary Johnson and Kathy Rogers; uncles, David Strange, James, Vic, Benny and Eddie Murray; several cousins.
