Helen Leo Jackson, of Thorn Hill, passed away Wednesday morning in Columbus, Ohio.

Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Stetzer Funeral Home, Morristown.




Edith Purkey Johns, 89, of Morristown passed away Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013 at Lakeway Regional Hospital. She was a long-time member of the Morristown Church of Christ and a founding member of the Morristown Doll Club.

Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Otis H. Johns; daughter, Marie Pardue; father, Charlie Roy Purkey; mother, Gladys Matilda Nicholson Purkey; brothers, Roy, Joe, Powell and Charles Purkey; sisters, Mary Combs, Ruth Thompson and June Thomason.

Survivors include her daughters, Martha Ross and Jane (Joe) Dean; son, Charles Johns; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation for family and friends was 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31 at Mayes Family Services, West Chapel and the funeral service followed at 7 p.m. with Minister Blaine Kelly officiating. Family and friends gathered Wednesday, Jan. 1 in Bethesda Cemetery for a 10 a.m. graveside service.

James W. Koovalles passed away Dec. 27, 2013.

He was the beloved son of the late John J. Koovalles and Jeanne L. Koovalles (Hammond) as well as, the loving brother of Jeanne, Joan, Jackie, Jill and Joann; proud father of Jason and Joey; grandpa of Noah and Dylan; loving and caring uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Always in our hearts, never to be forgotten.

Donald Moore, 71, of Talbott, passed away Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013 at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System.

Family and friends met at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 1 at Pleasant View Baptist Church Cemetery for graveside services.

Robert C. Spradling, 88, of Jefferson City, passed away on Dec. 31, 2013. He was a member of Community Chapel Baptist Church and a veteran of the U. S. Army, having served during World War II.

He was preceded in death by sister, Annie Miller.

He is survived by wife, Mary (Betty) Spradling; son, George Spradling (Vicki) of Indianapolis, Ind.; son, Lanney Spradling of Greenville; stepdaughter, Diana Ancil (James) of Jefferson City; stepson, Larry Embry of Leeburg, Ind.; sister, Mildred Kathleen Hensley (J.D.) of Greenville; brothers, Howard Whaley (June) of Greenville and John D. Whaley (Linda) of Greenville; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

Family and friends will gather at 10:45 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4 at Community Chapel Cemetery for an 11 a.m. graveside funeral service with the Rev. Gary Norton officiating.

Rhonda Thomas, 61, of Bean Station, passed away Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013 at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3 at Westside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Shannon Kinsler officiating. Interment will follow at First Independent Freewill Baptist Church in Bean Station. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2 at the funeral home.

Anna Laura Walker Tucker, 83, passed away suddenly on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013 at her home in Morristown. She professed faith in Jesus at an early age and was a member of Morningside Missionary Baptist Church since the early 1960s.

Anna was preceded in death by her husband, John Leaper Tucker, who died in 1985. Also preceding her were her father, Frank William Walker, and mother, Minerva Aileen Leeper Walker Bacon Lively; two brothers, Joseph Robert Walker and Lynn Weesner Walker and two siblings who died in childhood.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Tammie (Kenneth) Olaker of Dandridge; sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth (Joseph Jr.) Watkins; and brothers and sisters-in-law, James Edward (Grace) Walker and John T. (Kathy) Walker, all of Morristown. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Kay Walker of Morristown and Janice Walker of Chattanooga and several nieces, nephews and very dear friends.

The family will receive friends Thursday, Jan. 2 at Morningside Missionary Baptist Church in Morristown from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 8 p.m., with the church pastor, the Rev. Ross Woody, officiating.

Family and friends will meet Friday Jan.3 at Hamblen Memory Gardens for the interment at 11 a.m.
