When people think about Thanksgiving, they generally think about delicious food and spending time with loved ones. Unfortunately, not everyone can afford the essential Thanksgiving foods.

Every year the Key Club at Morristown West holds a food drive in TNN, homeroom, to fill up boxes with nonperishable food items to donate to Central Services.

“Thanksgiving is about giving, and I am thankful for the opportunity to give to those in need,” said Mrs. Kerry Gatlin, sponsor of the Key Club.

The Trojans donated 45 boxes this year filled with food items such as stuffing, potatoes, gravy, green beans, corn and more. Salvador Rodriguez, junior, organized this project from the Key Club.

Thanksgiving boxes were decorated to fit the holiday, covered in colored paper, turkeys and heartwarming notes from the Trojan Nation.

“Families started showing up immediately today to start picking up boxes. The boxes feed many members of the Morristown Community,” said Barbara Simmons, coordinator from Central Services.
