The Morristown West High Band has completed a very successful marching season, competing in three band competitions in the month of October.

The Trojan band’s musical theme for this year is “A Tribute to Disney Princesses.” Musical selections are “Belle,” “Someday My Prince Will Come,” “Whistle While You Work,” “Heigh Ho,” “A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes” and “A Whole New World.” Drum major Katherine Williams is dressed as Princess Jasmine for the performances.

The band, directed by Mike Thomas, competed in the Music in the Castle competition at Tennessee High on Oct. 5. The band won first place in their class, first in music, first in visual and second in overall effect. The color guard also placed first in their class.

On Oct. 19, the band performed at the Walden Ridge Marching Festival in Harriman, Tennessee. They were awarded a score of 1, the highest score, by all three judges for the overall band. The drum major, percussion and color guard also received scores of 1. Out of six bands in their division, West was awarded first place for color guard and drum major and second place for percussion and overall band.
