Rowland J. Avery, age 90, of Morristown, passed away Monday, Oct. 14, 2013 at the Regency Center.

BESSIE E. CONNER
Bessie E. Conner, age 100, passed away Monday, Oct. 14, 2013 at the Heritage Center.
Arrangements will be announced by Mayes Family Services, Downtown Chapel.
Terry Dyke, age, 61, of Bybee, passed away, Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013 at Morristown Hamblen Healthcare System.
He was a member of Bruners Grove United Methodist Church, where he served as superintendent, Sunday school teacher and song leader.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Neva Dyke; grandparents, Trent and Nan Breeden, Ardlain and Eddie Dyke; and his daughter-in-law, Rhonda Dyke.
He is survived by his wife, Pam Dyke; father, Earl Dyke; son, Shannon Dyke and stepson, Steven Lynn Jenkins all of Bybee; grandchildren, Lexie Walker, Macy Dyke, Megan Dyke, Brooklyn Duke, Hayden Jenkins and Myla Jenkins; brother, Marty (Kathy) Dyke of Bybee; special uncle and aunt, Marvin and Tommie Dyke of Bybee; also a host of special friends.
Special thanks to all his family and friends of Bruners Grove United Methodist Church, especially Wayne Buckner.
Funeral services will be held 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16 in Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Gary Miller, Joe Phillips and Bill Thompson officiating. Burial will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013 at Bruners Grove Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Manes Funeral Home prior to the funeral service.

Donna Foreman, age 64, of Whitesburg, passed away Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013 at Lakeway Regional Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Marjorie Gentile.
Survived by her children, Scott Zoltak, Kimberlee Schmidt and Steven Foreman; grandchildren, Franklin Schmidt, Clouden Foreman and Camron Foreman and daughter-in-law, Julie Foreman.
No services are planned at this time.

VIRGINIA B. GREENE
Virginia B. Greene, age 78, of Talbott, passed away Monday, Oct. 14, 2013 at Jefferson County Nursing Home in Dandridge. She was a member of Sartain Springs Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years.
She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Pearl Hopkins; sister, Bobbie Hopkins; brother, Marshall “Doc” Hopkins; sister-in-law, Mattie Bell Williams; and brothers-in-law, Ray, Forest, and Randall Greene.
She is survived by her husband, Horace Greene; children, Danny (Jennifer) Greene and Karen (John) Smelcer; grandchildren, Danna (Samuel) Moore, Jenna (Ricky) Helton, and Lanna (Sam) Hall; great-grandson, Levi Helton; brothers, Bernard Hopkins, Doug Hopkins, Coy (Louise) Hopkins, J.T. (Helen) Hopkins and Fred (Margaret) Hopkins; sisters, Ethel Hill and Sarah (Escoe) Smith; honorary sister, Opal Cameron; sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty Hopkins, Evolene Greene, Odell Bell, and Malcolm Williams.
Special thanks to ALPS, Jefferson County Nursing Home Staff, Smoky Mountain Hospice, and all the friends for their care and prayers.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16 at Sartain Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Leslie Griffie, the Rev. Mike Elkins and the Rev. Lonnie Knight officiating. The body will lie in state from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow at Sartain Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15 at the church.

ROBERT MICHAEL ‘MIKE’ MEFFORD
Robert Michael “Mike” Mefford, 57, formerly of Morristown, passed away Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013 at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. The Louisville, Ky. native was born Feb. 2, 1956 the son of the late Alex Mefford and Oneida Abell Mefford.
Mr. Mefford was a Eagle Scout, graduated from Morristown-Hamblen High School East in 1974, and attended Walters State Community College in Morristown. His career was in retail management. He volunteered at the Morristown-Hamblen Volunteer Rescue Squad, was a weekend disc jockey for WAZI, and also helped call football games for Morristown West. He was of the United Methodist faith.
Survivors include his sister, Linda Carol Mefford of Knoxville; three aunts, Ann Mefford of Bowling Green, Ky., Norma Butler of Smiths Grove, Ky. and Melba Mefford of Bowling Green, Ky.; cousins, Johnie Butler of Smiths Grove, Ky., Rickie Butler of Smiths Grove, Ky., Tim Mefford of Franklin, Ky., Keith Mefford of Clearwater, Fla., Jerry Mefford, of Bowling Green, Ky. and Terry Mefford of Bowling Green, Ky.; and several maternal cousins from the Louisville area.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013 at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home and again from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013 at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home with burial to follow in Smiths Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to a charity of one’s choice.
