EMMA KATE NORTON COOK
Emma Kate Norton Cook, age 91, of Strawberry Plains, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013 at Jefferson County Nursing Home. She was a member of Paw Paw Hollow Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by father and mother, Rufus T. Norton and Emma Wagner Norton; husband of 62 years, the Rev. Edd Cook; sister, Ruth Norton White; brothers, Marvin C. Norton and Edward F. Norton.
She is survived by whom she considered her foster son, E. Luke Greene and wife, Josephine; several nieces and nephews and several special friends.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14 at Paw Paw Hollow Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronnie White and the Rev. Sam Grindstaff officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Grove Piney Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from noon until 2 p.m. Monday prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pleasant Grove Piney Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Josephine Greene, 4807 Douglas Dam Road, Strawberry Plains, TN 37871.

GEORGE A. LEGOST
George A. LeGost, age 91, passed away Oct. 9, 2013 at The Heritage Center.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha; his parents, and one sister.
He is survived by two daughters, Barbara (Paul) Riddle of Bean Station and Carol (James) Brister of Trinidad, Colo.; six grandchildren, Jason (Pam) Riddle, Morgan (Whitney) Riddle, Bryson Riddle, Travis Brister, Lindy Brister and Daniel Brister; and seven great-grandchildren.
George served in the United States Army during WWII and was stationed in England from August 1943 to December 1945. He was employed by the railroad his entire adult life. First, by the Pullman Company in 1946 and was later commissioned by the Atlantic Coastline and the Seaboard Coastline. He retired from the CSX Railroad in 1981.
He and his wife joined First Baptist Church in 2008 after moving to Morristown to be closer to their daughter.
Memorial services will be 7 p.m. Saturday evening, Oct. 12 in the West Chapel of Allen Funeral Home with the Rev. Danny Georges and the Rev. Fred Leher officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7 p.m. prior to services.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 504 West Main Street, Morristown, TN 37814.

NORMAN LEE MAHAN
Norman Lee Mahan, age 71, of Sneedville, passed away suddenly at his home Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013. He was saved at an early age at Stoney Gap Church. He was a faithful member of Duck Creek Baptist Church. Norman was a hard worker and a friend to all he met.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Nina Mahan; infant grandson, Cody DeWayne Mahan; sisters and brothers-in-law, Fern and Fred Johnson and Sue and Billy Seal; brother-in-law, Stanley McCoy and niece, Kaineil McCoy.
He is survived by wife, Katrina Mahan of Sneedville; sons and daughters-in-law, Gregory and Cindy Mahan of Sneedville and Stacy and Jeaneen Mahan of Rogersville; grandchildren, Krisha, Kara Beth and Blake Mahan; brothers and sister-in-law; Raymond Mahan of Sneedville and Fayne and Vickie Mahan of Russellville; sister and brother-in-law; Glenda and Dennis Davis of Sneedville; sisters-in-law, Vickie McCoy and Sylvia (Kyle) Fugate. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and family.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12 at Duck Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Alan Lamb and the Rev. Kester Bunch officiating.
Interment will follow in the Trent Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Wayne Dean, Sam Finazzo, Joe Buell, Doug Trent, Sidney Seal and Paul Weston. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Cleatus Pearson, Harold Ramsey and Howard Johson.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 11 at the Duck Creek Baptist Church.

GEORGE WILLIAM McKINNEY
George William McKinney Jr., 53, of Knoxville, formerly of Morristown, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013. He was of the Baptist faith.
George was born on Feb. 27, 1960 and is preceded in death by his father George William McKinney Sr.; grandparents, Ben and Mary McKinney and Adam and Daisy Myers; several aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his mother, Dorothy McKinney; sister, Doris McKinney; sons, Jason (Rachel) McKinney, Derek McKinney, Christopher McKinney, all of Morristown. He also had several grandchildren and a host of wonderful friends at Summitt Towers in Knoxville.
The family would like to thank the Avalon Hospice Staff for the wonderful care and compassion given to him during his long, courageous battle with cancer.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12 in the East Chapel of Allen Funeral Home prior to the funeral service at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Benny Jones and Ricky Greene officiating. The family will meet at the funeral Home Sunday morning around 10:30 a.m. to proceed to Hamblen Memory Gardens for 11 a.m. graveside services.

ROBERT ‘BUBBY’ McMAHAN
Robert “Bubby” McMahan, age 83, of Morristown, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013 at Tennova Residential Hospice in Knoxville. Mr. McMahan was a member of Buffalo Trail Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Zachariah McMahan.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Jean McMahan; sons, Eddie McMahan and Robb (Kathy) McMahan; daughter, Teresa (Johnny) Ezell; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Ralph McMahan; sisters, Katherine Phillips and Ruby Robinson; several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give special thanks to Smoky Mountain Hospice and Tennova Residential Hospice for all of their care and support.
Visitation for family and friends will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11 at Mayes Family Services, West Chapel 4524 W. Andrew Johnson Highway. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12 at the funeral home and the interment to follow in Hamblen Memory Gardens.

Orvel Reed, age 86, of White Pine, passed away Thursday morning, Oct. 10, 2013. He was born and raised in Cocke County and was a retired carpenter.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mattie Elizabeth Reed; son, Orvel Lee Reed and several brothers and sisters.
He is survived by loving children and daughter-in-law, Billy and Teresa Reed, David Scott Reed and Brenda Reed; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; special sister-in-law, Mary Reed.
Graveside funeral services will be Saturday, Oct. 12 at 2 p.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery. Family will receive friends Friday evening from 5 to 7 at Farrar Funeral Home in White Pine.

Curtis Turner Jr., age 63, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013 at Fort Sanders Regional Hospital.

BILLYE L. WILBURN
Billye L. Wilburn, age 80, of Morristown, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013 at Jefferson City Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert James Wilburn; and brother, Lewis Collette.
She is survived by her sons, Johnny Heck of Morristown and David (Sharon) Heck of Talbott; grandchildren, Scott (Sabrina) Heck, Michael (Misty) Heck, Joann Heck, Angel (Gilbert) Atkins, and Danielle (Casey) Wise; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; special aunt, Mary McGlone of Columbia; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12 at Westside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Wells officiating. Family and friends will meet at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13 at Hamblen Memory Gardens for graveside services.
