Chili Cook-off set for Saturday
The inaugural Hamblen County Substance Abuse Coalition Hillbilly Chili Cook-off will take place Saturday at Fred Miller Park in Morristown.
Saturday, more than 20 competitors will lure Lakeway Area residents to Fred Miller Park in the hopes of being crowned the best chili maker around.
The Hamblen County Substance Abuse Coalition is hosting its inaugural Morristown Hillbilly Chili Cook-off from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Armbands are $5 per person and allow patrons to try every competitor’s chili before voting for their favorite.
HCSAC Executive Director Paul Hyde said nearly 50 sponsors have provided donations for drawings that will be held during the cook off, including five vacation package giveaways.
There will also be more than gallons of chili to sample at the park Sept. 28. At least 40 craft, jewelry, and a variety of other vendors will be selling their goodies.
Cruisin’ with the Cops will also be going on at the park during the chili cook-off.
“Many thanks to all that have made this event a great success,” Hyde said. “We could not have done it without you.”
